Took a look at ( and didnt take a screenshot of ) the power graphs.. and man, i need to work on that. Seeing as OH and Krill are at peace.. OH/Gav/Cairo could all technically attack me. Im two turning gunpowder right now, and i can with wealth builds get rifling within 7-8 turns. Will that be fast enough? Probably not. however.. Rifles are alot harder to dislodge than archers. Building cats right now to deal collateral if someone decides to land. What really sucks about a map like this is, no production. AND all but 1 of my cities is coastal. Im keeping a good eye on my neighbors positions, and plan to upgrade to muskets if it will help. Between Superjm and myself, we are the tech leaders. He grabbed liberalism, and i have a monopoly on printing press and now replaceable parts. Even with RP, my production isnt upto Rival average.. thats some shit. i have 3rd/4th land size too. Sigh.

Quick update, at war with Mr.Cairo. Tried to avoid it, and get a peace treaty to get rifles which will keep me in game till it ends.. Speaking of which, to me.. it seems like Mr.Cairo waited wayyy too long to attack me. I had been waiting for a large buildup for awhile, and thats part of the reason why i avoided making cities on the southern tip of my starting island. Now, im less than 10 turns away from rifles. Not looking good for either of us now.

Id put Krill/Gav at roughly 50/50 shot of winning. OH has to pull something out of his ass to win, Superjm has no chance because he has less cities than i, and we are basically even in tech. Mr.Cairo waited too long to attack me, which would have secured him enough land to have a fighting chance. Krill seems to have had too much land to start with, and gav got lucky with a quick kill, and a land advantage/war vs OT4E.

I can both say, and cant say im disappointed in this pitboss. Disappointed in not "really" having a chance to win from t0. Land was rather poor, alot of cows. While others have corn and fish up the ass. Yeah, im sure Mackoti could have won from this spot, but i dont really consider that a balanced. Now on the other hand, ive enjoyed being thrust into a pitboss where im not rushed, its got alot of sea-faring, and i manage to land the wonder i was looking forward to . Its been an enjoyable experience in the fact that ive been able to test how well i do on water maps, isolation, ect. I dont /knock the mapmaker for the map. Because we didnt exactly ask for handcrafted/ everyone has a chance. Just that the capitals are balanced.

I think my only chance for a win would have been Elkad surviving, and the 3 way between Elkad/OT4E/Gav keeping them down. OH and Krill get into a big hissyfit fight, and Mr.Cairo attacks OH and gets into naval wars. AND, had i expanded like.... alot better. All n' all its a learning experience. Im just waiting for it to end. Only people that have any chance is Krill/Gav. Superjm can only play kingmaker, same with OH/Mr.Cairo.

Speaking of Mr.Cairo, im hoping that he realizes soon that he cannot win, nor can he take me out. Im close enough to rifles that he would need to tech to infantry to feasibly take me down. Its just not going to work bud. Im hoping to have enough cats/hitters to keep him off my mainland in about 5 turns. Last i checked he had a shitload of caravals, he's teching astro now ( or at least holding it ) and he's got c1 privateers.. so yay.

1st off, holy shit Cairo has alot of ships. 2nd, thats... got to be most of his power... right? im just starting to make troops and ive jumped up in power fairly decently. My privateers im hoping get some good combat rolls, but im not expecting a miracle. I will however have plenty of units to slap him away soonish.. I will lose at least one city, ( one i spent alot of time whipping.. ) and possibly 1 more city after that. He will not keep the cities, id hope. As im FAR closer to rifles than anyone but Superjm/Gav. He's poked a sleeping giant. Think ww2 japan vs USA.

Longbows work as hitters right?    Im 6 turns away starting next turn, ( 7 if we count this turn ) from rifles. If not less, if i decide to put everything on research. Cairo needs to land like, 40 knights.. like... NOW if he wants to succeed in doing anything other than pissing me off.

Seeing his privateers, i moved my "stack" out of easy vision so that he wont know what i have exactly. He can sac a knight to go see what i have, but thats one less unit i have to worry about. I put two maces into phyrexia so that he "should" have to at least bombard, if not hopefully lose some more units. Really wish i could have gotten another Lbow in there. The way i see it, unless Cairo has a bunch of units in those caravels.. I dont get why he is attacking? Shouldn't he want to work with me to eat some of OH? Hell, together we could probably stop Gav from winning. Im just happy that 90% of his power is from his absolutely ridiculous amount of ships.

IF he hadnt of attacked, i would have had rifles in roughly 2 more turns. Ive seen some pointless attacks, but


Maybe he doesnt realize im like the de-facto king of defense?

6 turns to rifles. I have enough cats to destroy anything that isnt 3x that stack. Maybe this is just a ploy to get me below him in score, so he can claim 5th place?

Sorry lurkers, been busy lately. However that is no excuse!

Current situation is still the same, Mr.Cairo is attacking me. He is attacking using caravels, and has a decent stack poised to attack Modern Masters. I have stuffed the city with a shit ton of units, and im hoping Mr.Cairo takes at least 1 more turn to bombard, and doesnt just shove collateral into it. If he does shove everything into it, im hoping i get better odds than i have on the sea. Lost 9/10 ship battles to him, all 50/50.. RNG gods be damned

Anyway, i have a very large stack of cats + some hitters ready to slam into his stack. Im 2 turns from rifles, and im going to be whipping several muskets into rifles next turn. Then, using my vast gpt, i can upgrade many MANY lbow's into rifles. Normally not a good idea however, seeing as how Mr.Cairo intends to start a pointless war when Gavagai is going to win this anyway.. is kinda amusing in a "shove a nail into your big toe, and kick a wall" kinda way. Although my tech speed is amazing, there is absolutely no point in not building just units and making it clear that this is my. god. damn. island.

Well, i put everything into motion. Only thing is, EVERY game... RNG god's must decree that i cannot have success. out of over 15 70%+ fights, i won like 5. Not that it should matter much anyway, as i just whipped alot of muskets into rifles. Mr.Cairo's offensive has been all but destroyed before it really began. I will not accept peace until he retreats from my island, and gives me gold to compensate.  

Im hopeful i can reach astro/Chemistry before MC, but it doesnt matter too much. If it looks like he is gonna try and boat a city elsewhere, ill simply stack more rifles.

Logged into a straight 10 turn peace treaty.. Which i found somewhat funny. After heavy debate, i sent it back with a demand for 100 gold. If he refuses, i will stop at nothing to keep him off my island. If he accepts, i will tech to astro/chemistry before he can, and then build a fleet of frigates while my land based rifle/assortedshit/cats takes back Phyrexia.

Small update, as this game has been one big slap in the face.

Peace treaty i sent was accepted, +100 gold.

Moved most of my stack to defend Time Walk. Mostly because thats my only goal right now, being that Mr.Cairo took ANY chance of me catching anyone off guard, off the table..

Looked at PBspy today, and Ol'Harry decided i was a good target. After taking 1k gold from me. Fine. I suppose i can just burn the rest of my civ to the ground.

WHY HASNT THIS GAME BEEN CALLED YET? WHO IS LEFT?? Krill has no good targets, OH is at the mercy of Krill, OH will suffer from whatever i can whip up. ( was building eco, silly me ) Mr.Cairo is actually weaker than myself, regardless of score/power rating. Lewwyn is deadmanwalking, and Gav just ended SuperJm's only chance. SOOOOOOOOOOO..... lol?

And so, the war to end all wars has begun. The suffering will be great. But i fully intend to ( since i can no longer build in peace! ) cause as much loss of life as possible. There is no way that Mr.Cairo wont start his attack on me the second that our peace is up.. So i have a choice. Do i let Cairo take some cities, and defend/punish OH for his taking of a 1k bribe, followed by t2 of the peace treaty being over with... attacking me? Or do i let OH have some good cities, and punish Cairo for starting a really REALLY stupid war, that cost both of us ANY chance we might have had in this game. We could have attacked OH together, could have both swung at Gav when Superjm declared.. ANYTHING. But regardless.. i will make my decision on what to do with my soon to be whipped-to-the-ground civ.

Just so im honest, i will never actually hold any grudges in this game. It is, and will forever be just a game. However, that doesnt mean i wont be livid/pissed ect when people do what i believe to be some of the dumbest decisions/most infuriating decisions that i have seen in recent gaming. Well... i might remember OH's 1k "bribe"
