So if we do put him there I think we should upgrade him to C1/Shock. It still won't guarantee that he'll win, but he should have good odds.
I thought river-crossing penalty was minus 50...shows how much I know about warfare! Let's move, promote & fortify him anyway, and move Lucky down to Paint It Brown just in case, seeing as we have plenty units in and around Blake.

Got confused there for a moment (it's corn N of Lady Jane). Sounds fine if she can reach that hill.

Reply from Inca about a NAP:
Quote:Dear Capac,
Sorry we didn't respond sooner.
Time is a bit short for the both of us.
We would still he happy to sign a NAP with you.
What kind of duration would you find reasonable?
Regards,
Nakor for JANK
Not sure we should bother with a NAP. What do you guys think?

I don't think we have much of a reason to sign a NAP with them. I don't expect them to attack us, and would like to leave the option of attacking them open.

T106: Pyramids finished! Bill successfully defends against the Barb Axe. Library finished in Paint it Brown, Mace finished in Blake. Ruby Tuesday grows to size 2 and its borders pop.
In Ruby Tuesday, Marianne, Blake, and Chrissie all start farming the wheat. Marsha could continue work on the cottage, start a cottage or farm on the flood plains, or move onto the forest 2N1W of Ruby Tuesday to chop it into the Granary. I prefer the chop. Two of the Workers at Ruby Tuesday should probably move east after the farm is done, because Paint it Brown's borders will pop in 5 turns (6 with a revolution) and we'll have a bunch of flood plains to improve there.
Carla and Jana build a road on the Corn, and the Settler moves to the Iron city site. We're going to need a name for that city next turn.
I selected another Mace at Blake and a Mint at Paint it Brown. I don't think we need to build a Mace in Sirian. We have enough units to handle barbs, and we don't expect to get attacked in the near future. I would prefer to build a Settler (4t) or the Mausoleum (10-11t with Marble). What do you think?
I've left most of the military units unmoved. I haven't peeked into Kalin's Burgers yet. I'm not sure what to do with Jerry up at Sticky Fingers, so she's unmoved too.

Yay (though it's now T106...)

Marsha moved into the forest.

Agreed.

Steel Wheels perhaps? Or maybe Beast of Burden given its hammer potential?

I disagree on this one, and here's why: I'd like us to settle our planned FP city and then culture bomb it with the GA from Music. This will provoke the ire of both Inca & Rome, and given our low pop (and underdeveloped road network due south of Sirian) we'd need strong units in the area to help delay/deter their aggression. Rome is ahead of us in power right now, and Inca not far behind us, so we need to focus on military for a while. We've just built the ultimate 'kick-me' Wonder, so we're a much more attractive target than we were previously.
As from this idea for the floodplains, we don't have the workers on hand to get another city up and running, given the improvements needed at Blake/Paint It Brown, Ruby Tuesday, and Iron City. Even if we were to settle the production city overlapping with Sirian next, we'd want to have a couple of workers around to improve it.
I've reconfigured Sirian for commerce and our beaker rate increased dramatically, leaving us more or less equal to Carthage's levels:
We make 159 bpt / -50gpt at 100%, and 89gpt at 0%. Carthage was 157bpt/-58gpt at 100%, and 78gpt (and 7bpt from scientists) at 0% (on T105). Well done us! :dancing5:

Moved all units except Jerry. Got a look into KB because Nakor logged out whilst I was logged on
Score them some for covering a worker with an axe when the unit it has to fear on that tile is a Mali chariot
Quechua as top, and only, city garrison (IIRC though I forgot to get a shot of it )
I think Jerry should move on the forest, chop it, road it, then head south. We'll be assigning two scientists at Sticky Fingers when we switch to REP (once Music is done), so we're dunimprovin' up there for now.

Of course it's T106. Who ever said it wasn't?
When do you think we should settle the FP city? Do you think the site will still be available by then?
As long as we are going to provoke Inca, I suggest that we settle on the hill in the flood plains that gives us access to the cows, and then culture bomb the city.
What do you think about the Mausoleum? I'd like to go for it at some point, if we can, but I can see the logic in putting our resources into grabbing the floodplains land for now.

I'm thinking Mace then slow-trained Settler in Sirian. The site on our side of the river should still be available at that point, and if Inca has settled on the hill for the cows then they'll just have to learn to embrace Mali culture I wouldn't settle the more southerly spot as that's simply to far for us to defend against two angry civs
MoM would be nice, but I didn't get any feedback from Kyan when I said we'd be interested in the Wonder. I suspect he'd like it for himself (being Philo) so I didn't press the point. I think we should see whether we can afford to build it during the timeframe that we get a loan of marble to build the Heroic Epic (assuming iMoM is still available).
EDIT: I replied to Inca to decline a NAP with them at this time.

I moved Jerry onto the forest and ended turn.
Paint it Brown's borders won't pop until turn 112 (since we'll have 1 turn of anarchy). So Marianne, Bianca, and Chrissie should be able to build a farm on the floodplains SW of Ruby Tuesday's wheat before two of them head towards Blake/Paint it Brown to improve the floodplains there. They could build a road through the desert to Paint it Brown, but that doesn't seem like a very good use of their time.

Farming the FP at Ruby is fine by me seeing as it gives +2 food because of irrigation.
I was think that it may be better to chop the forest at Sticky Fingers into a theatre (once Drama is known), so maybe Jerry should road the forest instead?
Tech update:
- Engineering (Maya) T115 fully funded.
- Guilds (Carthage) T116 fully funded.
- Education (Babylon) tbc (fully funded).
We're likely to have to fund our own research, so I'm sounding out PAT as to whether they want us to get a GS to part-bulb Printing Press. If not we might be able to juggle things to get a GE as our first GP.

Wonder email exchange with Babylon:
Quote:Hi Kyan,
We were thinking of MoM, but after Pyramids I'm insisting on a wonder moritorium to work on military/claiming FPs ahead of Inca (who are now up to seven cities). We need one more XP for HE, so we'll let you know if/when we get it.
Had a look at doing an 'Operation: Taj' to get Parthenon in a new-ish city, and rapidly binned the plan owing to cost/benefit ratio.
Cheers

Hey chaps,
I'm done with my heroic epic in 4 turns i believe. I'll send my marble your way after. Was it the parthenon you wanted to build?
I don't currently have anymore grand designs on another wonder. Oh, and big grats on the pyramids
