RBP3 [Spoilers] Capac of Mali

T109 Report

We received Paper from Carthage as requested, so research set to Printing Press at 0% (to give us some cash in case of emergencies). PP would take 14 turns at 100%, and around 20 at sustainable research rates. We have the option to hire an Engineer in Sirian for a GE in 16. I favour hiring 1 Scientist in Sticky Fingers now and hiring the 2nd Scientist in 4 when it grows, and hiring the Engineer in Sirian (will still grow and complete Mace in 4). I've set the cities up this way (for now at least).

Worker Actions

Jerry headed south and is now at Uberfish. I had Chrissie start a cottage on the grass tile that Blake & Paint It Brown share. Marhsa completed her road, allowing Ronnie to garrison Ruby Tuesday.

Nakor logged on whilst I was in-game and moved his chariot NE-NE, so that allowed me to move Bianca & Marianne to complete the cottage without him knowing they were even there wink

Up at Steel Wheels, Carla has moved onto the grass hill to mine (then road), Jana to the plains forest to chop (then pre-road the pigs), and Cyrinda to the grass forest to road (then chop).

Units

Lady Jane has moved onto the same tile as Cyrinda, in case the Inca chariot moves in this direction. Lucky Maya is covering Bianca & Marianne. Wild has moved onto our road network between Blake & Sirian. Moved Tumbling onto Blake's copper (shadowing the Incan chariot). Rooster is 1S of Sirian, and Black moved south, but found no barbs frown

Poison Ivy had another look at Kalin's Burgers and it's still garrisoned by a single Quechua bang

The game is down so I can't log in to look at the situation.

Since Chrissie ended up heading towards Blake, what do you think about building culture in Blake so its borders pop in 2 and she can get started on the farm earlier?

NE-NE would land Nakor's chariot on a Peak, wouldn't it?

Are you saying that hiring an Engineer in Sirian won't slow down its growth at all?

Not sure about Blake building culture seeing as we could use that Mace. Building culture would be OK at Paint It Brown, though. It looks like England has a Taoist missionary for us. Shall we send it to Blake?

Inca's chariot moved N-NE and is 1SW of the desert hill outside Blake.

Indeed, assigning an Engineer in Sirian (instead of a miner) wouldn't slow growth.

Oops, I meant building culture at Paint it Brown, not Blake. Duh!

Hiring an Engineer in Sirian sounds good then, although I think we want to fire him when we finish the Mace and start a Settler.

There's been some diplo emails about us not having a 10 XP unit to build the Heroic Epic.

While the rules prohibit gifting HE-level units before the receiving civ has one of their own, I don't see anything in the rules about declaring a phony war on an ally and killing one of their units for XP. What do you think about doing that?

If we don't want to do that, what about trying to pick one of Inca's units off with our 9 XP unit? We could tell them we're sorry and try to make peace immediately afterwards. smile

Let's see how it looks over the next few turns. Declaring on a friend would harm trade routes, so Inca would be better if we can kill that axe we saw in the southern desert as well as that annoying chariot wink

With the game back up I can finally log in and check things out.

I agree with the specialist assignments at Sticky Fingers and Sirian.

I've switched Paint it Brown to build culture since I think it's more important to start the farm on the floodplains than to finish the cottage Chrissie started. It's only going to be 2 hammers worth of investment anyway.

Uberfish currently doesn't have a garrison. It's far from hitting it's happy cap, and I assume Mick is going to be its garrison?

We got a Taoist Missionary gifted to us. I think we should spread the religion in Uberfish, to help combat England's culture. I went ahead and moved it into the city, we can spread the religion next turn.

Yeah, Mick will garrison Uberfish in a couple of turns. I was rather thinking to spread Taoism in Blake to pop its borders to help seal up our territory, though I'm not opposed to spreading Taoism in Uberfish.

T100 Partial Report

When I logged in last night, I missed the fact that the Taoist missionary hadn't been moved because of reload timing, so he moved to Uberfish this turn.

We had a barb warrior spawn 1S of the forest outside Paint It Brown. Black has moved to the forest rather than attacking across the river this turn. There are no Inca units in range to deny us our chance at unlocking HE next turn!

Only Blake grew and worked the cottage. We could switch to the copper mine to get the mace a turn sooner, but I think this is fine. Workers continued their tasks, but I haven't moved the workers & units around Ruby Tuesday & Blake: we should wait to see what Inca does with their chariot before making our moves.

Inca has moved their chariot onto the desert hill, so I moved our workers in Ruby 1S to farm the FP.

So do we declare war and kill the chariot, or do we cover Chrissie with the spear (Tumbling) and move our chariot (Wild) into Blake?

I probably favour attacking and getting rid of the annoying scouting chariot, but I'd also be fine leaving it alone.
