Since last we chatted, I pulled back my warriors from Ziankali's borders. This turned out to be a double move, so I don't think he ever saw them. He is putting EP into me, however.
Now, feeling impatient, I've moved a settler next to a lion.
The settler has less than a 3% chance to die to the lion. I've already lost a scout in a 98% battle and a warrior to a lion followed up by a wolf from the fog. Therefore, I should be safe since I've used up my bad luck. That's how probability works. I actually ended the turn with the settler waiting back, but I don't think I can afford to wait. I've been so slow already. Ziankali shouldn't see this city as its founded so I should have time to get an axe there. That's another worry. I'll eventually get the scout done at my second city to finally check my east. I'm sure he will immediately suffer the same fate as the last eastern scout.
In international news, I believe Baii/Mousferatu built Stonehenge as Napoleon (Ind/Cha). Very nice. Annoyingly, it means he'll get a prophet soon.

And without further ado, I enter the three cities club.
Ziankali can see my borders if he fog gazes a bit. If he acts immediately, he can get an axe there ahead of me, but the city autorazes and he makes a permanent enemy of his neighbor, so we'll see if he does that. I probably should have tried to play after him in order to shave a turn off my axe reinforcement time.
I still plan to go for Judaism. My tech rate feels so bad, but maybe that's just Deity. If I miss Judaism, I'll have Masonry and nearby stone, so maybe Pyramids is in order. I am Spiritual, after all.

Note that that apparently is not how peace time turn orders work here (I think they basically don't exist, but I wouldn't feel confident enough to explain the rules. When in doubt ask the referee)
Also, what has been of the CoL oracle? I'm a tad disappointed

Ah, I was unclear. I founded the city on t49. I can get an axe into the city on t54. So Ziankali, if he noticed the city after I played on turn 49, would have 6 turns to get an axe in there. If I played after him (and assuming he doesn't log in again after I was done), would notice the city on t50 and would only have 5 turns to beat me there. I wasn't thinking about turn splits but about when Ziankali noticed the city.
For what it's worth, Ziankali spent an hour and fifteen minutes on his turn after I planted the city. Very worrisome.

If it's any consolation, it'll be weeks before I have to make a choice.

I found somebody to my north.
I'm bad with colors, so I'll try to find time to world builder in the blue civs to see who this is. Don't think it's Kreutzberg.
I'm playing very loose these days. I changed my capital's axe to a worker since I haven't seen any Ziankali troops yet. I'm not in Slavery, and it's saving me 1gpt. Weirdly, I think I'll be going a long time until I use the whip. This has got to be wrong.
On an unrelated note, Donovan Zoi logged in while I was playing. We chatted about how we're both happy playing big games. It's nice the community can support games of this size.
Edit: I forgot to mention, I think aspi only knows me and blue player. He's putting 2EP on me. Ziankali is putting 3 on me I think.

Kaffeesatzleser, the player who won the game on which PB88 is based, just grabbed the Pyramids on turn 52. I like this play, I think. KSL is Alexander, so Philosophical. It's very early for Pyramids. He'll have a long way to go before he can make good use of Representation, but in a field of 52 people, I guess he wanted to make sure he got it. Wow, that's an early Pyramids.

But it's not only the Representation. With the philosophical leader he will get the great engineer(?) early, who helps to build another early wonder. Also this early pyramids needs a lot of production, which can't spent for military or settlers. Wherever he is, he must be really lonely.

You're right. I had forgotten about the Great Engineer. KSL is Philosophical, so he'll get the Engineer around turn 77. I don't have a good feel for timing on Deity, but I suspect the Great Lighthouse and the Colossus will both be available to him.
I'll be honest; I was shocked Pyramids went so early. If KSL didn't have stone, that's more than five settlers. My instincts tell me this will be good for him, but we shall see.

In „our“ PBs, The Great Lighthouse usually gets built before turn 77. But whether that will also be the case in zhis game, obviously remains to be seen. With a PHI Leader, KSL might also be interested in something like The Parthenon, which would match nicely with a „specialist economy“. We‘ll see what his plan is in the not too distant future, I suppose...

Hmm. I would actually value the Parthenon less as a Philosophical leader, I think. (Then again, I'm used to playing the Realms Beyond mod which gives PHI +150% Great People points rather than +100%.) If I were KSL and going through the top of the tech tree, I would skip Parthenon and wait just a little longer to grab the Great Library. Realistically, he must have sacrificed something to grab the Pyramids this early. I wonder how long it will take to make his tech rate competitive for early wonder races.
