Graphic Patch

Welcome to the Graphic patch thread. Here i'll be posting updates to my project to fix, update and try and make some nice immersive new graphics for Caster of Magic. If you have ideas toward units with reused graphics or palette swapped I would love to hear your input. I'm mostly doing this for myself but I want to make it available along the way if some people wants to use it.
---------------

Plan of action:
Gorgon Summon GFX (Done)

Gladiator Battle Sprite (90% Done)

Spellserker ()
Apprentice()
Warlock
Knight Icon ()
      The horse feels like a cow, I admit a cow riding paladin is awesome but I don't think that's the intended design
Lizardman Ship()
Doombat Summon()

What do yo guys think, it's far from everything that needs updating, but it's a start. I want to focus on barbarians and then work my way across the races changing things that feels redundant. i would also love to change the champions to turn them into unique units but I ain't there yet.

If you guys want to help feel free to do so, it's always fun to get feedback.

PS. Moderators, you can delete my other post about the gorgon graphics it ain't needed anymore ill be migrating here.

I want to hear more opinions about this as well. Personally, I definitely want to include the gorgon summon sprite, although I'm satisfied with the existing combat sprites but these look great as well so I'm neutral on that at the moment. I will probably have to see them in action first in the game. (Please attach the updated LBX, or the individual sprite files correctly named so they can easily be imported so people can try them in the game)

Thank you. Yeah I do agree that the combat animation of the gorgon was quite nice already, I simply redone it for consistency with the summon image and well cause it's fun to draw tiny tiny things with pixels. Heres the folder with everything I'm working on and assume its good enough for sharing.

The gladiator is far from perfect, I need to work his attack animation its not yet crunchy enough. I like the weight transfer with it, but the motion blur lacks precision.

I'm probably going to take a while to do the next update where this can be included, so you have time to ensure everything is perfect. 5.55 will be released today btw, finally completed my barbarian test game.

So I've got three questions (at down).

Where can I find the rest of the graphics, and on what planet can I find the Aliens who would provide me with the tools necessary to unpack those into formats readable by human graphic editors?

And where did Pinkeh-_- go?
Been doing a nice work that kid.

The tool is here : http://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/forum...php?fid=53
Click the LBX editor, open the lbx file of your choice and you can save or replace the images if it contains any. (Replacing might not work correctly in some LBX files or on images using colors 240-255.)

Um.. pixel art involves placing pixels at their proper places and animating with using only pixels. Expressing the animation again with pixels. If the animation was done using a 3D model, at least translate it back properly into pixels and try to match the original, very high level pixel art of Master of Magic.
Chances are high that you won't be able to do it, because of Lack of Skill.

Still, some people are very talented at doing pixel art. Less so in doing real pixel animations, where you actually draw the animation phases by hand and you fully express your pixel-artist talent in each animation frame - to send the viewer a message what happens in each motion-frame - using pixels, where you literally paint making full use of professional pixel color combinations. This was done at very high level by Jeff Dee and probably his artist team at Simtex, the original developer of the game, some 35 years ago.

This is a world apart from 3D modeling and trying to minimize a 3D animation, as we see in the above images.  For example, the gladiator looks like Little Red Riding Hood.
The  Gorgon looks very muddy, as a result of interpolation when reducing the sprites to target size.

Remaking Master of Magic art is a bold undertaking, like vowing to try to Re-Make[???] David by Michelangelo. However in COLD CRUEL REALITY this undertaking is a lot harder than it first appears in the minds of peoples who are prone to 'Magical Thinking' regards  "I can do!"
The Source of this Re-Make Fever is rather close to the Dunning-Kruger effect..

This is why I give little chance to Slitherine, when they will make an **_attempt_** at Master of Magic II.
