#1 in production still. Got 2 granaries lined up to be finished EOT t73. Just in time to swap to Praets?? :D ( come on iron, be under one of my mines )
Injured barb warrior vs c1Shock axe on a forested hill. Should be EZPZ.
C1Shock axe on a forested hill vs barb axe. Thats what? 5% chance of beating my axe? ( also pictured is a worker i sent to start on the ivory but then i remembered that ivory requires HUNTING not AH... So it started a road instead.. Hopefully hunting can be easily 2t'd after IW. Gems should be fully hooked up in roughly 3t. Which goes along nicely with the whip anger ill be receiving from whipping the capitals settler, and another worker out to begin working on the sugar farm for the cottage city. Which also needs a warrior ( preferably something stronger.. ) because France still has a damn warrior moving up my east border.
Nice to be getting hunting soon anyway, not only for the ivory but also because im terrified about chariots coming from either of my neighbors currently.
The worker that finished the last FP cottage below Chevy Corvette will head north along with the whipped worker to help with the 2 newer cities. The one worker currently mining by Toyota Supra should be enough to use for mining/chopping duties right now in the southern area.
Order of importance for my "extra" workers. Iron hooked up>Sugar farmed>Cottages. Ill probably crank out 1 round of praets without whips and stack them up then go thru a whipping spree once current whip anger is gone and probably pick a yummy target based on power rating.
Id love to go after the south, but im doubtful that he wont see my power rating coming a mile away.
Id love to go after the north, but his CRE culture is very likely to give him plenty of time to whip axes. ... shit now i gotta see what odds a C1 axe gets vs a c1Shock praet.
So i guess the axe only has a 20% chance of winning or so?
For those that dont want to look at the spoiler...
C1Shock praets get roughly 70-80% chance vs a c1 axe on flatland, and a C1CR praet gets 60% or so vs a CG archer on a hill city with 40% culture.. So with that info ( im sure ill run in game tests when i start getting some actual units ) I think imma hit Mjmd unless he responds with a hell of a build up. Not seeing how i lose this PB outside of France hitting me with a large stack of HA? Eat one neighbor, consolidate get Currency, slam the other neighbor, consolidate get Knights, eat till win? Hmm. Probably wont be THAT easy.

Demos Arent terrible considering how much pop ive whipped away, and how few cottages i have down right now.. Ya know, a holy city ( shrine ) might be just what the economy ordered.
So lets see where Iron is located...
NO WHERE IN MY CURRENT BORDERS. Son of a bitch. I cant grab the south-east one as that is just asking for it... And because calendar is a way's away... i chose the Fish/iron/banana spot. Monument-granary-Rax is the name of the game for that city. Bending most of my workers to getting that city hooked up ASAP while i have another 2whip'd settler heading for the cottage city as i need THAT hooked up ASAP as well to keep myself going.. Ive got 1 worker for the south, and he should keep up with demand fairly well. While i have 3 workers ( 1 finishing in Corvette, and one being whipped next turn from the capital ) for the cottage city. Plenty of cottages need built and plenty of forests for these workers to well.... Work. Not counting forests that i have pre-planned on using for granaries/ect.. I have 10 praets worth of pre-math forest laying around. Not what i want to USE them for, but if push comes to shove..
Also of note, that axe got killed by a Immortal, but badly damaged the immortal thankfully.. ( twitchy Persians dont make good friends ) And another axe is on its way. I hope it eats something other than my units. At the very least, if the worst case scenario happens, my city will be captured not razed. t77 and t79 i should be planting cities. After that? Its praet production followed by some fillers. Using capture gold to fuel the race to Currency!

Alot of whipping by Mjmd along with several posts in a row between him and AT.... Is he whipping in response to my settler whips? Probably cant catch him off guard, so probably have to ignore him and go north. Only trouble is, im doubtful that he will let me eat/digest France before his HA or axe based army comes for me. What to do. What to do.

Well i miscalculated this pb a bit. Holding off on my 8th city till i have enough gold in the bank to get writing and be able to hire scientists to get me out of this slump.. I again prioritized Mines/production over cottages like a dumbass. All workers not working on hooking up iron for defense ( Mjmd declared war, and offered a peace treaty due to my whipping ) will be working on cottages. Once my economy is on track, ill ramp up the power and send my legions at France while keeping a token force of axes/spears in the south to defend against Mjmd. Not how i wanted to play this out, but god damnit... im not giving up.
So, that being said the lurkers can laugh along with me as i go over my cities and other plans in this long-winded post.
Above average in food, with somewhat low pop cities.. Not bad if you dont consider how im expansive.
Im not working many mines atm due to needing $ for research. When i do work mines im up near the leaders.
GNP is my worry so ignore that.
rough overview as ive had to shift workers around due to hair-brained attempts at doing things. Im terribly worried that Gira pulls a ..... ME and takes my 2 workers and threatens ALOT of shit. But im more hopeful that he takes a swing at the Axe/Settler pair that France is using to grab the wheat to the north. The spears are going to be available to whip incase Mjmd brings a ton of chariots/HA my way. Here's hoping i can make it thru writing within 7ish turns and bring the economy around. (3T at max science, but i need a good chunk of cash to get there )
For those that dont want to read my city summaries, there ^ is your info.
capital. Will be deleting the scout(s) built till iron is hooked up and it can grow on praets. Will be growing onto cottages whenever possible. Ignore the 50 mines i have built please.
Hey, there's some cottages! Planning on planting another cottage north of the city and it will eventually stagnate ( for now ) at 6pop working 4 cottages and 2 mines? Havent done the math on food for it.
Working lakes for commerce till i can swap to mines. Pure production city. MIGHT build cottages on the grassland tiles, but we shall see.
Probably a pure production city using its high food. Will work whatever commerce tiles it can in the meantime tho!
Thank the gods that i have gems to work. Ivory will be hooked up/worked next turn.
Another good cottage city, just needs to have my workers move that way. Axe has 5 hammers in it for emergency whipping.
WHY WAS MY IRON SO FAR AWAY. Ugg. Having to settle this city for iron and quickly chop out a monument to get the fish is frustrating as all hell. Was really hoping to have it pre-hooked or at least mined... or at least IN my culture ANYWAY... this city is a drain right now, but will eventually be worth settling.
Made it through my whole post? Have a cookie:

sailing is up after writing followed by a desperate run to currency. I think i have Writing down to about 6-7t. Ill probably settle my next city about the same time. Dont want to do it that way, and it may even be stupid, but i dont have the sugar farmed fully yet, nor do i have cottages getting built for the city to work quite yet. Just need time... Lazteuq settled and surpassed me in cities, ill be watching the GNP graph to see if he is struggling like i am, due to not having fin ( damn you plemo ) or if he either A: has a ton of floodplains cottages/gold/ect. or B: has overseas trade routes.
I do want to say one of the biggest things ive changed in the last.... idk.. 4 pb's or so, is building a granary first. Might seem ( should seem ) rather obvious to everyone else that that is the right choice, but i pretty much always went Culture>Granary even in situations where my food was first ring.. Sigh. Wonder how much better some of my games would have been just from THAT change alone. Now if i could just smack myself for my other many mistakes maybe id be better than food tier in these games.

catching up in crop yield magically. But also because im not focusing on my 59764358623 mines. Writing in roughly... 4-5t. Then libraries, then conquer someone? Tech? Dunno. I dont "have" to use AGG praets, but i did give up using a better econ combo ( INDIA/INCA/China ) for Rome so id feel bad if i didnt get some sorta use out of them. Flatland cities are basically free for me to take pre-cats, with hill cities only slightly more of a bitch to take.
I think once i get writing, and the 7t of peace are up with Mjmd, im going to declare war, offer peace, then offer open borders and HOPEFULLY make that a peaceful de-escalated border so that i can eat the hopefully over-expanded French.
Next turn i settle the cottage city, as it will have farmed sugar to grow with, and a road that will be completed which SHOULD connect it to the trade route(s) if a lurker could confirm do they even read my posts that would be great.
Best case scenario is Mjmd agrees to de-escalate our border, France and Persia go to war... he builds alot of spears, and i come thru with 10-15 praets and get a bunch of Currency worthy capture gold.
Worst case scenario is either Persia starts 1-man immortally my cities which he could do very easily, OR my rather amazingly bad combat luck continues to give me losses when i attack. Stay tuned!

If you still plan to go to war soon, you cannot afford many libraries at the same time. Technologically things aren't exactly looking bright (writing!), so I wouldn't recommend war.
Cottage city: If you road the sugar before founding the city, it gets connected.

Probably going to build 2-3 libraries while the rest of my civ bends towards total war with France. Could change, but that is the "plan"
Growing at a pretty good rate, had to put 2 cities on avoid growth to avoid unhappy for a turn or two.
Next turn i turn on tech and finish writing. Once i have writing, i settle my 8th? city.

Went ahead and gave El Grillo open borders and sent back the rice/rice offer of "friendship" along with demanding 2GPT from him. He's probably getting more than that from me now, but figured that was low enough that he wouldnt just openly reject it. Trade routes always confuse me with how they work exactly. Cant wait for sailing. Once sailing comes in, ill see how the trade route difference looks then. Ill also settle the Horse/wheat island to my east.
Got several 2 pop whips lined up for my libraries in the coming turns. Maybe my neighbors will think they are Praets? Growing on cottages and then turning on tech to grab Sailing-Alphabet sounds like a decent plan, then using my mighty production base to build research to grab Currency.. It could work. Right?

I know you're desperate for commerce, but the coast without lighthouse hurts. I would work the iron until the fish is available (maybe a worker, if you need one?). Another workboat can't hurt either if you want to explore the northern coast. About your plan: why Alphabet instead of Mathematics? You need Construction and Calendar quite early. About praetorians: I feel it's late, especially with this kind of solid land and low difficulty (> faster technological advancement). What you need are informations about your neighbors: some scouts, diplomatic relations to other civs, graphs.
