Agreed.

I don't think there is any need for hooking the marble up before the Sheep. Unless gunning for an early marble wonder - oracle specifically. There aren't many cases where a city should be looking to work anything other than the most food possible in the first part of the game since the whip is so useful.

The gold probably won't be worked in a city with no food for quite some time - I'd let the capital expand into the tile and gain the happy then. As a CHA leader with stonehenge, he isn't going to be struggling in the opening for happy.

Absolutly agree with Plako & SL. This goldcity does not bring anything urgently needed and only increases costs.
Besides he already knows that the mnore green (=cottageable) lands are south of him so he should expand south/southwest as fast as possible. This goldsite will still be there to settle when all borders are fixed.

There was some discusion earlier on about the value of the Celts on this map. I just thought that I would chime in with a little advantage of them - Havin Gur II or III troops really does change the dynamic of fighting - it means defenders have to consider different tactics.

It should be interesting.

Note to Twinkletoes for after the game has finiahed: Don't build a barracks in city 2 before a monument when you have to pop you borders onto food yet.

On the otherhand - using the oracle to grab MC is a good move as and IND civ. thumbsup

It looks like 'Ignoring food' is twinkles trait lol

He's developed his cities slower than normal. On the other hand, he's also unorthodoxically built the Oracle in an underdeveloped city, finishing it just in time, judging by SleepingMoogle's thread. So at least he timed that right.
I have to run.

I haven't followed the details, but in general I do like building the Oracle in a fresh non-capital city. That makes the Oracle's culture more useful on a border, allows the capital to continue pace on workers and settlers, and "hides" the Great Prophet points if you would prefer to get a pure Scientist or Engineer from the capital or dedicated GP farm.

The underdeveloped City novice mentions is his Capital

This game is a classic example of why early wonder building is often not worth the investment. Moogle, Twinkletoes, scooter, and Bob have all built (or tried to build) a wonder in their capital in the first 40 turns of the game. The net result: the other two players (Sandover and timmy) look to be in by far the best shape at the moment. lol

I'd much rather have an extra city and an extra worker at this point than one free tech from the Oracle or whatever.

Twinkletoes, I want to post this here because I love your thread and I'm sure you'll have a chance to read this eventually. Take a look:

You should be working the deer tile (and get a worker up there to get it improved again ASAP!) over the plains hill. Yes, the production is nice - but it's more important to grow quickly. That hill takes you down to just +2 food/turn, which is much too low. By working the deer tile, you'd be at +5 food/turn, and would grow to size 4 in just two turns, and then you could pull in the mine "for free" at a larger size. Even though the deer tile is unimproved, it's still superior in this situation.

Now the granary does mix things up a bit; you could go max production (like currently being done) to rush the granary and then swap over to max food once it's in place. That would work out OK. But I don't think you're doing that here, which is going to slow you down in the long run. Hope this helps when you can eventually read it! [Image: smile.gif]
