[Mjmd #51 No Players] Mjmd Rambles - a civ story

Double digit city count!!!! 10th city Railroad Tycoon II founded. My 2nd major I've never really used was supply chain management. I'm pretty sure this game should be required course material for anyone who wants to be in supply chain. I played some games designed for supply chain majors in my classes and they have NOTHING on this game...... This is another game that hasn't aged as I fully realize how tedious this game is to play well especially as you get to a larger network.

And yes I made a mistake. Worker at norther spice should be at the cow improving it, but I forgot to just road to it while it didn't have culture. So instead sent it to go chop sigh. Workboat is also delayed because that island ended up being bigger than I though.

I have a settler in production, but I doubt I can claim the clam on that island. The desert 1E of the copper is too perfect for El Grillo. I did send him a fish for clam trade (surprising he doesn't have fish yet). I just want that fur really. Hopefully can get a trade for marble in a few turns. Also, that settler is going to be slow built.

What about clam-3? It's not bad at all. Build the settler in Sim City with a llittle chop and you might get the spot. In the south, fish-9 should be settled soon, too. Leap Frog can build the boat for it.

If you go for a city there, I'd argue for the hill spot.

Sim City has 2 wonders to build which I've been saving the forests for. It is tempting.... Space Invaders will be 2 pop whipping a settler in 5-6 turns as well. I want to settle both the fish city on the mainland and the fish horse island to start Maoi.

I have to admit I'm not familiar with your notation for spots. Settling south of clam means I can put cultural pressure on that elephant. I could also settle to share the crab.

Yes, the hill would be even better, but an egyptian city at the desert doesn't leave the space for it.

It's the other way around, the hill spot doesn't leave room for an Egyptian city in the desert tongue

I think the fur spot is well worth it. I'm not sure another is anything more than just handing El Grillo a free city in the long term - I believe he has 2 pretty decent cities on his mainland, which is closer than your cities are.

I think just using your settlers to found your nice fishing villages is probably a better use.

Good news bad news report:

Good news: 1 pop whipped market (it was unhappy anyways) in Lemmings. Worth 12gold by itself. Time to build monasteries.

Bad news.
-Plemo just launched a golden age this turn. Really need another strong power other than El Grillo and weakened GKC over that way, because it is probably too late for a dog pile..... HOWEVER, Ramk did get Mausoleum, so at least he doesn't have that yet (Ramk is an obvious conquer target).
-Paya fell this turn to El Grillo and we know he has marble.... Sigh. If I can get marble in a turn or 2 I still have a shot though. Both GKC and Ramk have marble they probably aren't using.
-Almost continuously 2nd in last gnp Gira founded Christianity.......... Mind you he would have had to be researching this during a very long war. It is not the cheapest tech and there are better for happy. I had kind of assumed I could go theology after bureaucracy and get this religion easy as well as the palace........ GRRRRRRR
-Last but not least SD has been doing impressive things. It looks like he has been mass switching to mines, building wealth, and then doing research. Also, he has construction, so for safety sake that is my next tech as well. He also has calendar.

I'm trying to be very forward with my mistakes so other greens feel ok about doing these. I made another one this turn! I agree with AT that the mainland fish spot (which can grow 1 cottage for capital) and the horse fish eventual maoi city are better. I actually started a 2nd settler in Leap Frog as it's whip unhappy had worn off. I whipped it this turn; HOWEVER, I could have waited as there is no missionary ready for the mainland spot (which is worthless without it as Sim City is valiantly trying to get a wonder so needs the cow). So now I'll probably just sit the settler for a few turns....... There isn't a worker for it yet either; doh. Galley is also still busy ferrying a missionary to Railroad Tycoon. I could send this missionary to the mainland fish city. However, El grillo doesn't have his religion there yet. Again the question is do I want to antagonize him? The problem with delaying the missionary is that the galley needs to head south for the other settler going to the horse city.

I can't see the fish/horse city. Is that on the southern island? It doesn't show up clearly in any of your pics that I can see.

Also, you could grow a cottage with your fish spot, no? You have currency and an island city, so it's at least a 4 cpt boost to the economy to plant it (city and 3 trade routes). If it works a cottage while waiting for borders to pop, that's 5 cpt. I'd plant it - so what if it grows slowly for awhile?

I don't have a clear idea of your expenses, so it may be the cost of planting is higher than the benefit, of course.

My bad. I've included as like the very bottom of my East picture, but it hasn't been that important. There are actually 2 islands with fish down there. The 1 south of the silver is 2 tiles, one of which is a horse. Because it has a non zero amount of natural production I think it's better to build Maoi here. There is also a 1 tile island with a fish in 2nd ring I'll settle at some point as a commerce city that will whip all its infrastructure.
