Just place the city on top of the plains hill so you don't need culture at all. It's way quicker developing instead of deliberately founding with fish only in the second ring. WIth fish and a lake that city doesn't need access to the cow in the north. The worker can wait a bit, too, because there are already modernized tiles around and the food needs the work boat.

1) since I planned on the other spot there is no work boat so there is going to be a delay anyways.
2) it depends on the job I want the city to do. Is it just a fishing village working a couple cottages on and off? Then the hill spot is ok.
I think I want another city on the coast that can actually produce things when not whipping. Thinking navy down the line. My spot it can work 2 plains hills. Also, the plains hill spot would steal the last 3rd ring chop from my capital making oxford difficult.
Again I did make a mistake by whipping it too soon. Got excited.

Ramk got Great Library. Sigh. I did extend a trade to GKC for marble. he seems the most likely person with marble to give it up. I can still get parthanon chopped out in 2 turns if I get marble. IF I get marble I think I'm going to go straight to music (will do both prereqs) for Sistine and free great artist (settle in age of empires). This does probably take me out of the lib race, but I don't think there is a chance in hell I'm beating Plemo there anyways, so might as well go after the literal only chance of winning I have. Prob like 5% chance, but that's probably second highest odds in the game.
I got graphs on Plemo this turn...... He was easily leading in everything BEFORE his golden age. He aslo got Colossus. If this was a diplo game I would try to rally everyone to protect me while shooting for a cultural win...... Curse me having to research construction for safety deterrent.

Logged in after GKC had played and I do now have marble. I keep thinking what this game would have been like. For those curious the reason I couldn't try to get from him earlier was that silver bribe to Superdeath. Its really scary being next to SD playing aggressive Rome. Maybe it wasn't needed, but maybe the goodwill was. He had been building up power, I hadn't. It was probably from my scouting he was going after Lazteuq. However, Lazteuq went into a bunch of whips and had stabilized power by that point. I just got code of laws, so with him scouting and you know the holy city, he knew I didn't have my UU cats. But ya this definitely makes the 3rd or 4th time I've slowed myself down due to being next to him from fear. I could have not put anything into construction for safety and traded for marble way earlier. Construction finishes next turn, never has someone been so sad to have access to their UU. I'll build a couple and show off in the backlines to SD's scout. BTW Lazteuq went into a golden age, so it's probably a good thing to show some strength to SD (who has been playing very well if his graphs are any indication)
Anyways, parthanon due T121 (currently 118). I should have had workers in position in case I got the marble, but ah well. 2/3 chops will be turn 120, so hopefully not stolen. I'm assuming its not a very popular wonder? Unsure about music ETA, but I'll prechop a bunch of forests so Sistine should finish turn after I get (probably a good thing the bonus to build wonders was reduced in mods).
My noob wonder I'll probably 2 pop whip I believe next turn if I've done math right, so that ETA is T120. Will shave 5 turns off and will regrow back to 5 pop. Mainly want whip cycle to start. I'll probably whip it 1 more time in another 10 turns for a market.

If I'm just an utter idiot can I get a reload......... I didn't do the right math and chopped the wrong forest!!!!!!!! I'm 2 hammers short................. I chopped the plains hill forest because I wanted to mine it soon, but I needed it to finish next turn (turn 122 I had done some bad math previously to get 121), so now ETA is turn 123..... I could chop 1 more forest to get it next turn. I would whip, but can't. I logged out without ending turn. Thinking about it. I really want to save forest chops if I can. El Grillo Went into a golden age and with Paya switched to pacifism. I have to think he would want the wonder as well. Parthenon isn't a KEY wonder like sistine is, but it would be nice. I suppose the fail gold wouldn't be aweful for the bid for Sistine and free great person, but I've put 3 chops into it already...... I think I'm going to not chop and let it finish in 2 turns. Will sit on it for a bit.

Didn't chop. Eyes on the prize and all that. One way I get a wonder I want at the price I was willing to pay (3 forests). The other way I get enough fail gold to fund me at least through music. Will be turning on tech in 3 turns when monastery at capital finishes.
Assuming I get the great person from music I'm actually thinking about starting my first golden age. Everyone else having fun with them really makes me want one! I'm assuming El Grillo is trying to do a 2nd one after this one (although seems early to me, but maybe he's trying to get knights super fast). Now mind you would think a philosophical leader could easily have had a second great person out by now to do this and indeed Lazteuq did. You have to remember 30 turns ago I had 6 cities vs the 11 I now have (welcome to the fold Empire Earth). I just haven't had a city with the spare food for 2 specialists. But ya golden age research civil service and monarchy and revolt into both sounds good and worthwhile. Also can naturally build a lot of Sistine if I get there first and maybe save some forests for another wonder down the line.

Nope, I've triple checked. I was confused about the culture in El Grillo's island city, but realized that is due to him being in caste atm.
I GOT IT!!!!
Current screenshot showing southern stuff. Note the 1 tile island is only accessible by my coast, so almost no chance it's stolen. The galley near the horse city is loaded with a settler and worker atm for my future maoi city. I switched Sim City to gold after this screenshot as I realized I need to start the epic next turn.
Currently at 223 beakers a turn; 89 of which are from Lemmings.
SDs power is SPIKING, hes currently number 2 and my scout has seen a lot of cats and prats moving around. However, beginning of this turn he cancelled and then resent our ancient cow for cow trade. Do I know why SD isn't going after me? Nope. Am I really happy? Yep. Maybe that 10 turn silver bribe was WELL worth it. I might do it again when the beaver is hooked up and can cancel my trade with Gira.
Plemo switched into Vassalage. Lazteuq switched into bureaucracy. Only other real news is that Ramk's power is also going up, unsure if its defensive or offensive in nature.

I believe that the reason SD isn't going after you is that you have Hwacha'a. I would stay away from korea is I was Rome - any other civ is an easier target at this point.

I mean maybe I could win. I would have to whip my empire into the ground, which would end my game though. He has the highest non golden age production in the game with his 9 cities. If he also decided to whip his empire to the ground I'm not sure I could win that fight Hwacha's or no. By the way I have a grand total of 1 of them right now. I'm starting to be a player but I had such a slow start. 3 of my best cities are only 25-30 turns old. Civ, Pharoah, and GoldenEye. Other than CivCalltoPower, most of my cities have been going pure commerce. Civ took 10 turns to hit all its food resources, so that city is just taking off. I finish a library there this turn. I think next turn I'll build a barracks there, next turn 2 pop whip it and use overflow for a worker. I'm trying to only whip buildings and then only when I outgrow improved tiles (and again I'm worker short because I've placed 6 cities in the last 30 turns). Sistine will probably only get 3 chops, because I just don't have the workers otherwise. Music in 5 turns hopefully. Will wait a few turns for golden age if I get so I can save some gold for researching during.
I did decide to do a trade of copper and 15 gold for one of my silvers. I mean he sent me a cow for cow trade, which was a good sign, but I NEED time. You also have to remember I've sunk 360 hammers into missionaries. Mind some of the cities needed the spread and with organized they pay back the hammers pretty easily, but that takes some time. Also, happy. I mean essentially I'm moving hammers from inner cities to new cities which is always great. Instead of chopping monuments I get to chop out a granary ect ect.
I am not safe until crossbows / maceman.
Not sure if this is his only stack. I forgot to write down exactly what is in it / coming, but something like 7-8 prats, 6 cats, couple other various units.
So does he just have the worlds #1 power because? I doubt it. To note Lazteuq has civil service because he switched bureaucracy; however, he didn't switch to monarchy, which means he went via code of laws and therefore doesn't have longbows.
I honestly would have attacked way sooner as SD (and probably at me). His empire just got squeezed (again I have no clue why he didn't take civcalltopower spot). I mean ya I was posturing with a couple axes, but that was all fluff. I've settled 6 cities up to 12 now in last 30 turns. He has settled 1 up to 9. But ya very happy bribing him off for as long as he will let me. He's running a hell of an empire though. Mind he has very tall cities working A LOT of grassland hills, he even built coliseums in most of them, which is interesting..... If had just built 12 prats instead... My bet is he has it in his head NOT to do typical SD things. The problem is he took aggressive Rome, HE SHOULD be doing typical SD things.
How many turns do I need to feel safe? UMMMM Maybe 20? What's nice is that I can actually start pumping some military soon. Space Invaders instead of slowly producing military has been serving as a missionary pump almost continuously. Oregon Trail has been producing settlers and workers. I think short term I am going to turn civcalltopower into a military hub as well after the next worker I build there. That's still just 3 cities out of 12 though. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SD just attack Laztueq so I can feel safe. Tension is killer.
