I was hoping we'd get some sign-ups from the recently available PB49 folks before getting down to settings, but just in case, how about:

1) Randomly rolled maps of whatever script the map maker thinks best.
2) Balance pass for land form (nobody getting their own continent, e.g.).
3) Fussing with resources as map maker sees fit.
4) Balanced capitals.
5) Players promise to love and cherish the map, while reserving the right to complain in thread.

And I'd like to see the BFC before the pick phase, but pick method is a separate discussion.

I'm not sure what lvl of tightness, but could certainly do a tile per player type vote once we have a player list. Maybe with some recent maps for comparison. Having played on two larger maps, I am kind of feeling something smaller.
After returning from vacation (a week from now) I'll set up the polls/ spreadsheet to get settings decided. Right now we haven't even talked which base mod we're playing, as none but one player have stated their preference (I'm undecided myself,  but leaning CtH).
My idea was to give the mapmaker sufficient discretion; if he wants to make a map from scratch that's great. But we can take naufragar's suggestion as a minimum requirement maybe?
Commodore,  I get that you're considering it? That would be nice. However I'm also still hoping we can get the signups above 8.
I suggested a rather right map in the OP, maybe not as much as 49, but not a lot spacier either. maybe something between 49 and 53? But we can also put it to a vote.

One warning ... the last no-score game I remember had a divide by zero but if you opened the score chart ... so make sure that doesn't happen.
Excellent! how many bugs will you be able to find in a mod that basically just takes away things? looking forward to find out.

Oh that opportunity,  players please post your mod preference (RtR/CtH),  and whether that's exclusive

Id prefer RTR if its closer to pb43. Naval changes are a bite in the bluejeans to me, but everything else ive grown to love. ( not counting Airships.. ) But ill play just about anything.

No preference.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Ah shoot, I need to update you guys. Lockdown's been extended where I am for another 3-4 weeks (hopefully not more), which means I won't have access to my computer for longer. If you start later for other reasons (likely October) I would still love to play, but I'm certainly not expecting you to wait.
Past Games: PB51  -  PB55  -  PB56  -  PB58 (Tarkeel's game)  - PB59  -  PB60  -  PB64  -  PB66  -  PB68 (Miguelito's game)     Current Games: None (for now...)

Hm, maybe if you get a dedlurker (GKC, up for that?) he can play the opening turns for you while you discuss it in the thread? Also you must be one of a small population whose gaming time gets actually reduced by Lockdown lol

I was going to do that once I'm on an actual computer again,  but thanks for going ahead.  I think once the mod is decided we may need to do a second round for the details (particularly if RtR) but that's a good start. thumbsup

Heh.  I'm on the road about 4 days a week, putting in about 70 hours total each week, and my company has gone from 2.1 people to 5.5 people in the last couple months.  Bought a 2nd truck and watching for a deal on a 3rd.
On pace to more than double our prior best year, and the calendar just keeps filling up (I'm scheduling stuff in late October already, and still turning down work).

Kinda been phoning in my turns on PB-de88 actually.  But the new folks are training up well, starting to shuffle the load to them.

You can remove the vote on NoCityTrading. Under the rules of this No score game there can't be any city trading.

Great to hear that! I remember you had a rather bleak outlook in spring when lockdown started. But I guess just more people need network installations in these times?
