I recently refreshed my memory of the Ichabod raid through the link ion your signature. Didn't you also pull off some Commando raids against mackoti while he swallowed you? I think that was the first time I read of that sort of thing.
But from what I've read, what OH did was to roll into Turn 5 with no tech selected, and then it got selected automatically.
So if I do hit the button when it says Turn 4 (which is actually the fifth because turn 0) I should be good? Putting 5 turns into Fishing would be devastating here, unlike your game. I'll probably chicken and select t3 at the latest...
Yeah, that was all-around an eventful game with multiple wars, naval invasions, commando attacks etc.
You probably have it right with the mechanism, but I don't dare to confirm, because it's such a long time since I looked into this. I just remember us checking in the sandbox when we need to select the tech and then found out that in this aspect there is a difference between Pitboss and Single Player mechanics..

Oh and I just noticed that I unwittingly plagiarized your thread title from that game, my apologies.

Picks are rolling again. So, any objection to Cyrus>Justin>Vicky>Cathy>Washington>João>JC>Charlie ?
Giraflorens and pindi picked Russia, another in for the long run, and El Grillo Khmer, so hopefully he's on some remote island on the other side of the map.

so, my alternative civ favourites are out already... good think we didn't pick leader (everybody's pciking civ first, that can be a sign that Charriu has balanced the leaders very well, or that people get really excited by the prospects civ have to offer (as we were), and not so much by leaders, or that they think there's a huge disparity among civs and you have to go for a strong one in the first round if you don't want to lose out.
Although I have to say I like neither of Spain, England and Russia.

After having slept on it I'm fine with bumping Julius up a bit if you want. He's in the Cathy tier, or maybe even clear 4th. List seems good to me.

locked it in.
When you have the time and opportunity, I could use some instructions on SPI strategies. - The first obvious use of it is of course the settler whip.
- Then I can see cycles of slavery/theocracy and caste/OR (or serfdom or later emancipation and occasionally pacifism).
- Pyramids of course look very sexy, but there's the peril of getting distracted from our true objective. I think we'd need a very favourable environment (stone/forests/neighbours) to justify that. Otherwise early monarchy makes a lot of sense, with our wines and the guilds beeline.
- Your opinion on the Paya? It would save us theology and philosophy, but I don't think we'd want to get aesthetics before guilds. In any case it isn't a very sought after wonder, so we might still get it without racing for the tech.
As I said, no hurry with that.
Welcome Adrien! Glad to have you, feel free to post as little as you like (but seriously, looking forward to your posts)

Why do you want theology?
