What is the point of pushing so hard to overturn specifically Georgia?
Didnt trump lose by about 4-5 states?

The only thing I can think of is that Georgia is the only one of the six swing states Biden won where the governor, Secretary of State and the entire legislature are GOP controlled. In the other five states one or more of those offices/bodies were Democrat-controlled. Theory 1 is that he views this as a betrayal by the state GOP and is reacting accordingly. Theory 2 is that he thinks because it's "GOP controlled" he can make demands that they'll carry out. These are not mutually exclusive.
I'm waiting to see if "the base" votes, votes but writes in Trump in sufficiently large numbers or just doesn't show up.

Correct. I'm not an expert in overthrowing elections, but the first thing if your premise is that there is voter fraud, is well to find voter fraud. Georgia was the least number of votes you would need to "find" and also heavily Republican controlled. And lets not mince words here; "find" is very much "create" because multiple recounts have been done already. Once you've "found" your fraud you now have 'legitimacy' at least within a certain subset and can start applying more pressure to senators for efforts like this https://www.cnbc.com/2021/01/02/11-repub...sults.html or another supreme court challenge. Your basically trying to chain together legitimacy in overturning one election so you can overturn it all. To be fair to the Republicans in Georgia so far it seems they have enough integrity to not go along with it, which I can't believe I have to say this, but is a relief. Again, best to think about the US as 50-ish different polities, with what in a parliamentary system would be half a dozen different parties lumped uncomfortably into two parties. Georgia is possibly overturning because Georgia is possibly overturning. Each state has its own weird local stuff. I mean, Arizona is one of the places where they were alleging fraud, but it also supported the Texas lawsuit, it's hard to drill down one particular thing.

Lost in the (completely justifiable) outrage over Trump's bullying, cajoling, rambling, and at times utterly incoherent phone call attempting to persuade the Georgia Secretary of State to commit criminal acts on his behalf: Trump will be presenting the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Devin Nunes and Jim Jordan. Jordan was the pro-Trump attack dog during the impeachment hearings; Nunes went scuttling to the White House to coordinate his press releases on (nonexistent) intelligence surveillance of the Trump campaign. Both are back-benchers who haven't accomplished much other than being Trumpy.

The transcript is even worse than I expected. Not the sound bite “find votes” piece that CNN et. al. are trumpeting; that’s taken out of context. What’s worse is just how certain Trump is that he couldn’t have lost. He’s 100% positive. He really believes it. This is not an attempt to steal an election. This is, in his mind, an attempt to take back an election that was stolen .
Darrell Quote:Raffensperger: Mr. President, they did not put that. We did an audit of that and we proved conclusively that they were not scanned three times. I bet you do... Darrell Quote:Trump: Nobody can make a case for that, Brad. Nobody. I mean, look, you'd have to be a child to think anything other than that. Just a child. I mean you have your never Trumper...
