Ratings: I don't give percent. It's about how I feel Solid: I don't see how this team doesn't win. I could be wrong though so this is not called "Safe". Also no-one is ever Safe because of scandals and such; see LA-02 @ 2008. Likely: This team should win, but could plausibly lose Lean: Clear edge Tossup/Tilt: If I were serious I would just use tossup ratings because where to tilt things is too subjective. Tossup: Everything Else. Tilt: I guess this team wins. AK: Through DEMs don't have a chance this year there's still a MAGA vs RINO contest. I put it at Lean RINO Overall rating: Lean D
There is a local conservative talk show host I sometimes listen to (has never been a rabid Trump fan, never fell to conspiracy theories, and even if I don't agree with him is what I would classify as 'fairly reasonable'). I haven't listened to him much recently as I don't really drive at all and that was when I mainly listened. Anyways, the topic today was his theory that Trump is done as a major political force. Not that he wouldn't try mind you, but that there isn't any way he wins another major election. I hope he is right.....

Hope so, but it's going to require people who are aligned with the GOP to do some actual work to make sure that's the case. Eternally wishcasting that "someone else is going to beat Trump" is how Trump got through the primaries in particular - no one really went after them because they figured Someone Else was going to. Turns out Someone Else was Nobody At All.

They don't necessarily like him, they like his message. Someone can co-opt the message and nab the nomination, but who? And would they be a better outcome for the country, because he's toxic to the point of unelectable without serious efforts to suppress the vote. Darrell
Trump was frankly too old last year, if you think there's going to be any appetite for electing another 78-year-old in 2024 you're crazy. The populist rancor that elected him is only going to intensify but he's going to be yesterday's news by next year.
...but hey, maybe Congress can still figure out how to use him to distract for another few months of not giving me my money.
