I hope they keep renaming them, watching Republican politicians freak out over a Potato Head toy has been hilarious.

This isn't Pharaoh. This is the Golden Calf that Israel worshipped after escaping the Pharaoh.
Moses then fed the Golden Calf to the Israelites. And then they spent 40 years in the desert.

It's hilarious to watch it dawn on the Biden voters that dumpstering orange-man-bad somehow didn't fix the entire world.
At least he's smart enough to realize that that minimum wage would shitcan the other half of all the small businesses that the lockdown bullshit didn't already.

1) I actually think people always overhype politicians and what they will do / can do / what will actually happen. Some people even have fanatical devotion to politicians for odd reasons and ignore all facts in favor of that politicians lies. Its really weird.
2) I was actually going to do a whole post about minimum wage because its an incredibly complex series of moving pieces, but I figured it would um spiral out of control fast. HOWEVER, what isn't complicated is looking at data from other countries and going "huh America did real bad with Covid control". I know your in favor of killing off people instead of reasonable measures that have allowed other countries to have stretches of normalcy (and less damage to their economies) but ya please stop pretending it doesn't work.

About news consumption. If you want to actually become more informed I think the best choice is to read broadly and compare. FIY: I am a social democrat who is disappointed at our current soc-dem government.
I listen to Swedish public radio to get high quality mainstream reporting; they have a slant to left/green/urban because of who becomes a journalist. Then I try to find alternative voices who challenge the mainstream narrative. There are still not that many conservative newspapers in Sweden, I prefer GP as it is quite honest in its critiques. To the left I read Arbetaren (the worker), a syndicalist newspaper which is not too dogmatic but still well outside of the mainstream.
In an American context I would read a combination of Financial Times, American Conservative and Jacobin to fill all the food groups. For an international outlook I would recommend https://allafrica.com/ and https://www.project-syndicate.org/

The American Conservative is quite good to get that perspective. Not sure about Jacobin. My lefty reading used to be the nakedcapitalism.com blog. Not quite the same though.

Naked capitalism is good too. I think blogs are a very good source for information out of the mainstream. A lot of researchers have excellent blogs that are much more in depth than newspapers.

"Settle for Biden" wasn't a joke. Most of the Democrats are for the status quo, Biden included. He would be considered far right in the civilized world. Kamala Harris is a legit terrible person.
For people to want "orange man" back over Biden, he would probably have to start a war. The bar is set incredibly low. The American people deserve better than either of these administrations.

It would be quite tricky to be a politically active progressive in America. If Bernie doesn't get nominated, what do you do? If you speak out against Biden, you will drive people to not vote for him, which takes you closer to Trump and the Republicans winning, and that is even worse. So you kinda have to be dishonest with yourself there if you want what you think is best for you and your country. Voter apathy on the left seems understandable to me with this context. I think if Trump had done the bare minimum needed to combat Covid, he would have won again despite all the terrible things he had done. People were pushed to the polls to get rid of Trump. It's quite depressing.
