Yes it is picked a lot. Out of all finished games IMP was picked 44 times. But crucially it only won 5 games and 15 times the IMP player was eliminated. I did consider posting a list of 'winning traits', but I find that a bit misleading, because you can only ever have one winner and this win doesn't necessarily have to do with the trait alone. It also discards the performance of a lot of traits that fall in neither category.
What I try so far is categorize the performance of the traits into 4 distinct categories.
1. Eliminated: Easy. Here I have all traits, which got eliminated
2. Survived: Traits that survived until the end of the game, but never had a shot of winning or played any major relevant role to their benefit.
3. Dominant: Traits that had a shot at winning or competed for that. Or traits that generate a large and relevant empire that contributed to the outcome of the game.
4. Winners: Traits, which won a game.
Let's take the recently finished PB63. Pindicator and Fabled got eliminated and go into the first category. Ginger won that game and obviously would go into the 4th category. But now it gets tricky. I would have put JackRB, Bing and Mr. Cairo into the second category. To my understanding they never had a real chance at winning. They all survived until the end, but the contribution to the game wasn't as big as others or they didn't benefit themself. As for the third category. I think it is safe to put Mjmd and Superdeath into this category. Mjmd was safe in second position and played a huge role in the game against Ginger. Superdeath eliminated Pindicator early and always had a huge and stable empire. His attacks shifted the game in major ways. That leaves only Cornflakes, which is a hard case and the kind of play that makes it hard for my category system. I've put him in the 3rd group. He eliminated Fabled and had a huge empire that shifted the dynamics of the game. Yes one could argue that he has to go into group #2, because he only survived with a small empire or even in group #1 if he was eliminated, but I think for the evaluation of the traits the 3rd group is better.
