My empire as of T189

Tell me if you want an overviewmap, but since my empire hasn't grown that much in the recent past I think we can manage to get by just with the cities themselves. Like I already said my next goal is to go for Oxford and Wall street and therefore more infrastructure. For that I will switch into Organized Religion for the next 5 turns to get some banks up and running.:

The Core:

My proud capitol Clock Town and main science contributor. It holds the Temple of Artemis and National Epic earning me and good source of great people. Plans are to grab the Sugar tile in the east next which in the end will give me an additional specialist. It will also get Oxford since of course it makes the most commerce. As you can see trade is also very critical for it since it is so big and thanks to ToA it has a great trade income. Another reason why I want to go for Economics and Corporation soon. Thanks to Replacable Parts and Serfom it also has gets 6 extra hammers bringing it up to 17 base hammers.

Going west from the capitol we find Crysta the holy city of Hinduism which earns me some ridiculous 67 gold, which thanks to multipliers and other stuff gets up to 174 surpassing even my capitol. I have to say without the holy city I would not have made it here. The city itself isn't that great and as you can see a lot of tiles are used by it's neighboring cities. Thankfully it has 12 hammers (4 extra from tech and civic). I may need to grab a windmill and watermill next turn though to get the bank done as fast as possible.

Going directly north from Crysta we find Amn. Formerly a good commerce city that helped the capitol get it's cottages up. Now it's an actually great production city with some decent commerce into the mix. 22 base hammers with 6 extra hammers from tech and civic. Looking at it now I might need to turn the mine into a windmill. I'm quiet pleased with the city as it not only earned me Hagia Sophia and the very important Spiral Minaret no it also helps to reach the building limits of national wonders in a timely fashion and outside of that it produces military.

Going directly east of my capitol we find New Nobilia. You might remember that this city was razed by my arch nemesis Lazeutq in the beginning. Argh It had quite a history by now. Some 20 turns ago it was a lot bigger then now and used a lot of the surrounding hammer tiles to get everything important up. Most importantly it has the globe theatre and since I'm running Nationhood for a while now the city switched gears in a hard way. It now produces a musketman (almost) every turn as thanks to the food surplus it grows it back immediately. Next plan is to give the sugar back to the capitol and manage to keep the city at 8 pop to get a WLTK day. In the far future it will get the Red Cross as that goes well with some drafted units.

More or less north of New Nobilia we find Township, my third best commerce city. As you can see it will get some more commerce in the future with the growing cottages to its south. It will grab some more hammer tiles to get the infrastructure (bank and university) up and running as so far it is very low on hammers. Plan is to keep it contributing commerce and great people in the future.

To the north-east of New Nobilia we find the former border city of Freeja. It is a production city that will get even better when the neighboring cities no longer require the hammer tiles. Right now it is making 18 base hammers. So far I haven't build a lighthouse yet, but I think I should do that next. Goal is to keep it as a productin city. Maybe it even gets Ironworks in the future.

Directly north of Amn we find another production city in Old Camp. Right now it has 15 base hammers (4 bonus hammers). I still need to make a plan which cities exactly will get a bank and university. If need this city can get them. A lot will depend on how important it will be to have a strong water production city in the inner sea. If it is no longer required to contribute production there it will most likely give up most tiles to it's neighboring cities and shrink to and old camp of fishers.

Now lastly for my core we find Figaro south of New Nobilia. My main military production center. As you can see it does 27 base hammers thanks to Moai and it also holds Heroic Epic. With those I can produce land and water units rather quickly. Right now it shares the copper tile to it's northeast to a newer city, but will get it back eventually. This city will also build a bank and university, mainly because it can do that fast and thanks to Moai and water tiles those aren't totally misplaced. Since I now have Replacable Parts I should also turn the mine into a windmill I think.

This concludes my core cities I will next turn to the other parts of my empire.

Continuing on we go to

The East:

I'm really surprised that Lazteuq did not raze the city when he could. This is Hateno to the east of New Nobilia and north-east of Figaro. Right now it uses some hammer tiles from Figaro and Freeja to get the necessary infrastructure running. As soon as Forge, Temple and Monastery are done it will give those tiles back and will turn to just running the coast tiles and contribute almost nothing in hammers.

Directly to the east of Hateno we find Fireburg. You might remember that it lost one of its first ring tiles to the culture pressure from Lazteuq. Well this problem has been solved by now. It will never have the great hammer output. Right now I try to grow it bigger so that it uses all the coast tiles. It already has a library in place, but due to the low hammers it won't get a bank and university.

Directly north of Fireburg and north-east of Freeja we find the new border city of Esther city. This city has two big problems: Food and culture. It definitely needs more culture to get all it's first ring tiles back. With those I can tackle the food problem as then I will be able to get food via irrigation. This might even require to farm the marble tile. In the mean time it manages to get up 12 base hammers next turn. Not totally bad.

To the east of Township and north-west of Freeja we find Matango. Right now this looks like a solid city. Depending on my plans it might get the bank and university. Right now it also serves as a great production city on the inner sea with its 16 base hammers (8 bonus hammers). Most likely though it will turn into another fishing village.

To the north of Township we find Snowdin Town, my northernmost city. It singlehandedly keeps up the culture up here and it works on getting that whale tile into my culture. After all Lazteuq has one of his own right now. As you can see I also worked on growing it some more. It actually has the potential for 11 base hammers or even 13 when I put a workshop up north. As you can see I put a lot into culture buildings which was important to hold the territory here. Other then that it is a mixed production and commerce city.

Next we look at my island belongings in

The South:

Directly south of the capitol we find Parcelyte. A solid water based city, but an important one as this is the entreance towards my capitol. Good thing the city is on a hill and has okayish 12 base hammers. You know Chemistry might also be very worthwhile after the economic techs. Like with other island cities I try to grow it to cover all coast tiles In the meanwhile it produces some water units. The privateers will be important defensive scouts.

Directly south of Parcelyte we find Zeal a former Ramk city. Almost everything I said about Parcelyte applies to this city too, but with fewer hammers and less important defensive position for the capitol.

Lastly we have the newest addition in Quelb. Still a city in development. It has 4 food resources though which will be important to draft defensive units here in the future. I planted it on the hill for the extra defense with workshops on the plain tiles, a windmill on the hill and a watermill directly south this city will get to 13 base hammers, maybe even more with more workshops.

Lastly we look at the

The West:

The wine island between me and Mjmd houses his former city of PaddyDoyleBoots. Main course of action here is the basic infrastructure and using all the coast tiles for a decent commerce city.

Mjmd's former border city DirtyOldTown will be a great production city. With 5 windmill hills, the watermill and the cow we will be at 21 hammers (12 bonus). As you can see I got rid of all the jungle for defensive reasons. The village is a bit out of place here, but I will most likely keep it as it is already a village.

RisingOfTheMoon uses the wheat as long as it can to grow big. Thankfully with the raze of a former Mjmd city it now has a food resource of its own. Other then that DirtyOldTown will share hammer tiles to get infrastructure up. The three tiles to the north will most likely be lost to Miguelito eventually as they are his first ring. Other then that this will be a commerce city.

Lastly we have Wendel. A land grab to the west of DirtyOldTown. The rice will be irrigated giving more then enough production. A windmill, 2 watermills and the stone will give enough hammers and maybe with some more workshops this will be a great production city.

This was a rather important turn. I checked if both my neighbors intend to go to war with me, but found no signs for that. I then thought about civics for a while. It was clear to me that I want to switch into OR to get those Banks up and running. The question though was due I switch from Nationhood into Bureaucracy. This would increase my maintenance considerably, but may also give me the necessary edge to get Rifling 1 turn earlier. Alas it was not enough. But thankfully I spawned a Great Merchant this turn and together with a Great Engineer I fired of my second golden age in this game. This not only gives me Rifling in 3 turns it also let's almost all the 8 cities complete a bank in 6 turns or less. Only problem is will I have enough gold for the full 3 turns of Rifling? Well maybe I can pillage some stuff in neutral territory.

I also found this army of Mjmds. Hey at least he's trying something, but as we all know Miguelito already has rifles out.

It's somewhat obligatory to post screenshots of Moai cities in golden age, so here you are. smile

Miguelito also started a golden age and did conquer the Mjmd city west of Quelb, so I will get access to that spice tile with a border pop. More importantly I started pillaging tiles in the neutral area between me and Miguelito as well as former Ramkland. Just pillaging 2 mines netted 18 gold. Why didn't I do that earlier. There's even a town on the spice tile of Quelb we should net me quit a lot of gold.

Haven't reported in what feels like ages for me. lol Mainly nothing big happened in the last turns, just happily building along. I managed to discover Rifling and finished my first Cavalry, which is heading towards the Miguelito border to present his shiny new stead (and to show Miguelito that I can build cavalry and rifles  mischief ).
As you can see I also settled a new city: Ding Dong Dell. This is from the game Ni No Kuni. This is another simple case of why I love it - because it's a town in the look and feel of Studio Ghibli, which I adore. Would love to hear from you which Ghibli movie is your favorite? Mine is Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.

As you can see Miguelito is also steaming ahead with his founding of Mining Inc. which is worrisome. Meanwhile it looks like Lazteuq is stagnating or at least being way to slow in tech. It also looks like Lazteuq will make some attempt to settle Ramkland, which will slow him down further. Especially because this land is burned by a lot of conquest, only houses fortresses and no other improvements. Main reason is because I just pillaged everything worthwhile there. smoke That's a nice 119 extra gold. Note for myself pillage more in future games. smile

Got a diplo message from Miguelito last turn. So somebody will attack my city of Quelb? But who. I see no troops marching in my direction.

Lazteuq keeps his cities dangerously low on defenders especially the coastal ones.

In internal development news. I switched into Representation and Nationhood this turn. My cities start to run more and more specialists and happiness is of no issue even without the MP happiness. I also started drafting rifles that way, which is the main reason for going into Nationhood. As you can see I also get Education shortly. Therefore I remained in Organized Religion to get all the necessary universities up and running.

Lazteuq finally started to conquer the remaining Mjmd cities in Ramkland. Meanwhile Miguelito send me diplo messages to declare war against Lazteuq, I would bet Lazteuq meant the same towards Miguelito in his diplo. This is really hard to decide, but in any case if war breaks out between those too I want them to fight them first and should I need to vulture Lazteuq I would like him to sacrifice his superior fleet against Miguelito first. By the way Miguelito also offered me a spice deal which I decline because my cities are happy and because I will have spice of my own in the next 10 turns.

Now Miguelito did try to get more metal resources with that spice deal since he has Mining Inc. Like I said I declined that. He then asked for my copper for 3gpt which I also declined. In the end I settled with 5gpt for my copper, which might be to cheap and too big an advantage for him even though it increases his maintenance, but I want to be on good terms with him for now as he is the stronger power and is very dangerous for me.
