I accidentally boot up D2R while I was doing some photo editing, (I often have my main monitor in Portrait orientation editing vertical photos.) so I was curious to see how D2R runs on dual monitor. On full height window in portrait mode it would show what you see on the right side. Almost 2/3 of the play area is missing. The full screeny above show what it looks like if I stretch the window all the way to the other monitor's left edge.

When I put both monitors on landscape mode the window can only stretch to about half way to the other monitor; with a faded edge. I guess that is how they deal with Fog Of War with D2R. It's only fair.

PS: Lol, one of my main problem is not to pick up grape juice when I see them.
I have at least half a tab of full grape juice on each account... but my doctor says I am getting better.
I actually prefer to have the first column in full reds so that I am more liberal to drink and top up the globe

These screens were grabbed in the middle of January 2022. It is looking more or less the same today.






Norm Diff usually sees a few more games but hovers around a page full







NM Diff has always been the most quiet, and usually gets about half a page of games. And showing no games at this moment!!!







Hell Diff has always been the busiest but it is only showing a page and a half games - And practically all Single Player!!!







I hope the other servers are doing better.









What is missing since D2R in Norm Diff is Enchant Games, where an Enchantress would cast the spell on players to get easy lvling. Made Raven Claw extremely popular









For NM and Hell, it's obviously missing pages of Baalrun games. One new trend is Multi Players MF games in Hell Diff where people would join the same game to bump player count but each farm a different area.





























With traffic like this, I don't think it's a good idea to have the ladder seasons set too short. D2R servers will look like ghost towns. Didn't they say they want to encourage people to play together? Looks like a fail atm.







I don't like new Ladder Seasons personally. I have never entered the race (well, except that one time a few Variant Scums thought it would be funny to have a team of Scums listed on the HC board (Screen Below)) and not into building the characters over and over again. Some of these toons takes forever to build ;p









However, I would probably build a Ladder MFer or 2 to get some new runewords back to Non Ladder, if any look cute and obtainable. IE, I am not going to grind for anything the require a higher rune than Vex.

That is an interesting page of variant history. I think solo-self-found (i.e. no shared stash, no playing with others) would be a great way of spicing laddering up. Afterall, the idea of making players play together didnt work, except maybe for Sullla's group run!

I agree, but then I get the impression that the vast majority of players is more interested in grinding for GG gear and doing end-game uber runs in under 2 minutes, at least that's what YouTube and other forums look like to me. I suspect a solo-self-found ladder would be a rather lonely experience sadly...

Those were the day.
We were active testers and posters in the official Bliz forums DSF, then The Asylum (our original home of the variants); then the Lurkers Lounge and Realms Beyond were started around the same time. We were known to Bliz.

Lots of LL and RBers are cross posters. There were no shortage of geeks. We discovered and help fixed many bugs. Many of us were invited Beta testers.

Same thing happened in Civ3 when Charis and Sirian became the force to be recogn with and spread some good old RB philosophy around the net.

Weren't some of these old timers recruited by the developers?

For those of us with high runes falling like rain drops from the sky, we spend hours every day to experiment putting together rune words. We the 1337 of the leet are well aware of Bliz's disclaimer

Keep in mind when experimenting with unknown Rune Words that you must be prepared to accept the loss of your Runes if the formula does not work. Rune Words must be inserted into the correct item for the formula in the correct order. Blizzard cannot restore lost items for any reason including due to your failure to properly create a Rune Word.

Yes, 99.9999999% of the time you will get duds, but it is all worth years of effort when you actually get a legit word. That is one of a billion, that tis bragging rights to type "First". Your name will be immortalized.

Besides, what else are you going to to with all these high runes taking up precious inventory space, and bored to death with all my charaters now they are all lvl 99 with all skills @ 40+ !? Eh?
