I do not think abortions are something to celebrate..... I'm pretty sure baby laughter is the purpose of life. That being said its stupid as hell to be to be 'Anti-choice' because again its impossible to actually accomplish. It just leads to bad things.

If you want to reduce abortions providing contraception is an obvioius start. I would personally require counseling including education of other options. Make the adoption process cheaper and easier. I'm sure there are other actual good ideas out there that aren't pure stupidity.......

Hey, I'm very on board with all of that. Preaching to the choir! Im just letting you know that it's a pro-choice stance, not a pro-life one (as you said in the beginning of your other post).

I mean I'm probably not in tune enough to know the exact what falls into a said "stance". One of the things that frustrates me from the 'pro-choice' crowd is they just hand wave / accept the ending of a life. Instead of being a last resort it's just portrayed as a normal thing. To say I'm frustrated with both sides is an understatement. For instance planned parenthood is exactly the kind of place you should support if you are actually pro life in a literal sense, because they provide a lot of different services that aren't abortion to help with family planning. But again stupid politics are stupid.

There’s pro choice, which as others have said is what you seem to be Mjmd.  Then there is pro abortion, which is what I am (through the first trimester).  I define pro abortion as “if I was a woman, I’d choose an abortion if the situation warranted it”.  Generally speaking when a woman makes such a difficult decision its because she knows best whether she is capable of raising a child.  There are serial aborters and that’s not okay, but it doesn’t justify denying it to the vast majority of responsible, thoughtful women.  This article is an interesting read.

P.S. Roe v Wade was a pretty dubious decision, but in this country federal legislation is a pipe dream, and the practical result is ~20 states are going to have a lot of dead teenage girls.

What I'm saying is I A) hate the labels and B) have issues with both sides so don't like to be lumped in with either.

As a married man with descent income, wanting kids, and a support network I remember freaking the #@*! out about my wife becoming pregnant. I remember my doubts about raising children (/still have with 3). I can't imagine being a women having an alien growing inside of me..... and that is regardless of other factors. Anyways I think counselling and providing information and whatever support can be given in situations like this should probably be at least minimally required, because the reaction to freak out is probably pretty common.

I obviously agree with your PS.

Not only accepting the unacceptable but running for election on said unacceptable.

I will repeat, no one should vote for a Republican unless that person has firmly denied the election lies / denounces this out in the open attempt to undermine and subvert our democracy. America doesn't have the strongest checks as is and this is an obvious attempt to chip away at the few we have further.

When I was doing my defense of democracy did I mention that one of the weaknesses was the voters themselves.......

Is it a pipe dream now? It requires:

Dems pick up 2-3 Senate seats, and probably a couple of House seats. Every single Dem Senator that's in a contestable seat this year is pro-choice and will support this (and overriding the filibuster to do so). That's not easy, but it's definitely possible. Pelosi got a bill through the House already, and it's going to get a vote in the Senate next week, where I'd expect the filibuster vote to be 48-52 (or officially 47-53 because of the rules and Chuck Schumer would switch his vote for procedural reasons. Yeah it's bizarre).

I'll know what the odds are the day after the midterms. This is purely an exercise in "what's going to happen there."
