Well, we found us so me more corn! This land really does have lots of food. I wouldn't mind if I found some OTHER type of food resource though besides just corn. Some wheat, pig, sheep, even rice! I'm guessing that it is on the island once I can explore there.

Agriculture finished once I ended the turn. Next up will be mining.

I'm guessing that whoever is to my north sent their scouting unit to the north, east or west since I haven't seen them yet. That should mean I'm safe until I can get my warrior out.

Everyone else moved up 6 points, which I think means they completed their research.

I've gotta say, lucky break Scooter didn't try to snuff out your civilization when he had the chance! I'm sure there are other players who wouldn't blink at killing you while you're defenseless. wink

It was helpful but he wouldn't have been able to snuff me out. I had calculated it and if he hadn't agreed and I'd switched to a warrior right away, it would have built right before he could have attacked. He would have been next to my Capitol and it'd have been empty but the warrior would have appeared between turns. Needless o say though, it's much better that he agreed!

Sorry I didn't post sooner. I played the turn early this morning in Birmingham AL and have just gotten home to Chicago. So, let me just give you an overview. Agriculture done, Mining started. One turn to worker completes. And here's the world as I know it:

Wow! Look how much better my PC is with graphics than the Mac was. Gack! Low level terrain is ugly.

New turn up! Yay! Look what I found (not that it was that hard or far away):

The biggest challenge of this turn was making a decision about my warrior build that started. I could build the warrior in just two turns using the Ivory tile but that slows down growth. I wavered back and forth but the main factor is that I need to grow to size two before I start work on a settler. I will have to work the corn to do that. Now, I may play around with swapping off it for one turn to finish the warrior sooner if that's possible. Not that there's much to see, but here's the inside of my cap:

Also, I noted on the demographics that no one has grown, which means that EVERYONE went worker first:

Too bad I didn't send my warrior straight north or south. I might have been able to waltz right in to a capitol. I definitely would have been able to if this was not quick speed.

One other player, it seems, swapped off the ivory to work corn after finishing the worker. The others chose to stay on the ivory based on the MFG numbers. Based on the fact that another player also has 19 GNP, I'm gonna guess that it was our friendly SleepingMoogle (the other CRE civ) that switched off the Ivory and got the gold from a river corn or other food resource.

I played quickly before going to work. Sleepig Moogle is now in the lead with 42 points which I am again assuming means he finished another research. Not sure what it was though. If work is slow today, I'll think about it more then.

Okay, here's what happened in 3460BC...

I moved my warrior onto a hill and spotted a lion. The first enemy so far. If it moves southwest it will be a problem for me as I agreed not to move next to Scooter's borders but I also don't want to be next to the lion on flat ground (even if it's across a river).

What's driving me crazy is this:

Even after I ended turn he's still one turn ahead of me on the farming process. What you're seeing is the benefit of being a EXP leader. He's got one turn on me which means he'll get that extra 3 food one turn sooner. Argh....

In other news, I switched back to the Ivory for one turn as it allowed me to finish a warrior in one turn instead of two. I'll then switch back to the corn. The reason I wanted to do that was because I'm going to use that warrior to scout just a bit before I settle my second city. I want to make sure I'm choosing a good spot.

I'm still highly tempted to settle towards Scooter to try to grab land. Especially since I'm CRE, it could be a great play.

I've decided we need more drama in this game because the lurker thread has a lower count than any players thread. Clearly, we're not giving people enough to talk about!! lol And so I have decided to declare war on Sooter... J/K!

I've been trying to think of how I can compensate for the lack of being EXP. That one turn faster worker will snowball eventually. A resource is connected one turn faster which gives one turn more food which gives earlier growth which gets new resources into play faster. Unfortunately the map seems to be very balanced so I can't put my hopes on better land.

I am CRE though so I really need to leverage that well early to take advantage of my trait. CRE means I can expand borders quickly and, barring a wonder or religion founding, win border wars. Now, Scooter is industrious so he does have a high liklihood of going for wonders, but that will slow down his expansion. If he does build an early wonder, it will probably be in his capitol, where I'd lose a culture battle anyway.

Scooter is not imperialistic so I don't have to worry about him rushing out settlers at a pace that I cannot keep up with.

Now I don't know who my neighbor to the north is. My hope is that my northern neighbor is not Serdoa as he is the only Imperialistic leader and will be able to get his settlers out faster than me. I know that SleepingMoogle is to the south somewhere. So I'm hoping that TwinkleToes is my other close neighbor. Being charismatic may push him into war but I'm guessing that he took Charismatic primarily for the extra happiness. I wouldn't be surprised if he made an early run at stonehenge. Of course, he'd have to research Mysticism first and probably chop it out. I'd actually be pretty happy if TwinkleToes was my northern neighbor and he made that play since the culture would still be weaker than mine and it'd slow down his expansion a bit. Long term, it would be an advantage for him but if I could sneak in and get some extra land before then, it might end up being a wash if not actually to my advantage.

We'll see how it plays out. I'm anxious for the turns to come my way!
