That is why Diablo 2 is interesting once you delve beneath the surface a little. Sometime it seems a little over complicated for things that seem irrelevant. But it is not over complicated such as D4. D4 has 100 thousand things that buff the player a 100 thousand ways. But all it is just a huge spreadsheet, that doesn't translate to real game play. There's no nuances. In the end, it all end up a slaughter fest - you walk by and monsters die instantly by the thousands. Sure you can achieve almost the same power-build in D2R (you can see where D4 is heading from D2R development) but without the veil of false sophistication, aka, over complication, via a 100 thousand item mods, paragon board, renoun, feats, statue discoveries, glyphs, yada yada yada. You don't need skill, you just need to plug in the right numbers in the spreadsheet.
In Classic Diablo and D2, you can feel the differences of minor adjustments, in game play, of course more so in Variants. The system is dynamic.
While a little theory crafting is fun, the proof is in the game play. A Pul gives +75% damage and 100 AR vs Demons. Demons are everywhere, and all act Bosses are Demons. This also goes hand in hand with Laying Of Hand, later. I am guessing a Pul will serve best but I am open to making changes as I go.
I am not so much worried about mobs since I have AoE via Thorns. Why Jah is not on the top of the list.
The biggest thing that work against Ber and (Chance To Cast) Static Field is Sacrifice's slow single attack. That amounts to once every two seconds IF GGGx has AutoHit. Chances are, these effect don't go off at monsters' full health. And I am hoping they don't need to go off more than twice (It would be painful for GGGx to take a beating this long). At least Static Field is AoE. These effects are still valuable vs act bosses.
I will try to hold on to the Cow King set as long as possible for style points. I am also open for a new set up in (late) Hell. A GFace for Crushing Blow if I can get decent ToHit. Maybe suit up for a Clay/Iron Golly for more Thorns goodness. Life Tap from Marrow Walk would eliminate the burden of weapon swap.....
