Neither do I agree with everything China, in this case, does or does not do. I am simply pointing out the governments such as Singapore and China have such a high approval rating is because they are doing awesome by their people. Who are you, someone who has never been to China and only get your news/info in English, aka, western propaganda, to judge the satisfaction of their government is not legit?

The proof is in the pudding. We can shovel our democracy up our own asses for all I care, if it is not working to make us happy.

This is a t-shirt I designed a few years back - I got a lot of compliments, until they get around to read the finer print.
I think a few people here will find it fits  smoke

Again, I'm not saying Autocracies can't do good thing for sections of their people, but it usually doesn't last and there isn't any mechanism for disapproval. I won't argue polls you haven't shown or the influence of availability of media and how yes while I've only read and listened to English language media I still have access to a large range of opinions and facts including yours that is lacking in most autocracies.

A lot of bad logical argument has been made trying to compare immigration camps on southern border with the Uyghur internment camp and policies. For now lets disregard equality fallacy (again you shouldn't but I will for a second) but lets not go into it. Lets go for a simpler comparison to show the power of democracy. Under Trump families started being separated. There was outrage fueled by news everyone could access. There were protests. And then there was change. I think it was Boro? or someone else once tried to prove you could have protests in China too and his own articles he showed as proof listed that the government cracked down afterwards in every case. Do you think Xi would care half a damn about internal opinion on treatment of the Uyghurs or Tibet? He cares about how its viewed and discussed outside China and how that affects different democracies views of China, but he won't let his people speak out against it.

Funny you should bring up human rights again, when we damn near killed off the natives, Asian Hate, Head Tax, Residential School, BLM, KKK, Kent State...... Let alone all the human suffering and trouble we stir up around the globe. Chemical warfare, Biological warfare, Cluster bombs, and Nukes - Not once but twice

Again, you really have no ideas what you are talking about. Go to China and have a visit. It is the safest place on earth. Take a look around yourself in China's wild wild west. Be in awe with their tech and infrastructure. Notice not the 1000s of homeless people in every major US cites. Do you even bother to google anything or just believe anything that come down your feed?

GO ahead and google what Tibet is like before China, what it is like under Dalai Lama's rule, and what it is like now. Google Uyghurs population now vs say 50 years ago. And you will find China did a shit poor job at genocide that China is accused of. Go ahead and youtube   Xinjiang and locate an oppressed population living a good live.

Anyway, how much creditability would you give someone who doesn't speak English, who has never been to America, and talk shit about us? That's is about as much credit I give to someone who has not been to China, who doesn't speak Chinese.

Why it's a fool's errand to talk geopolitics with "Free Tibet, wherever the fuck that is" people.
I am done for real this time.  lol  Slap me silly if you see me carry on here again
Going to play some games instead....

Ya we used to do some horrible stuff and some of it has gotten better. Again not all, but thanks to public pressure and work a lot of those have gotten better and or are currently being worked on. Yes there is work to do, but we are free to do that work. Thank you for proving my point? If you want to go try to change something you don't like, you are free to do so. If I went to China and tried to protest or talk about Tibet or the Uyghurs how long would that last? Labor day is coming up in the US. Labor history is BRUTAL and certainly not a shining moment, BUT with a lot of hard work and voting things changed. If a labor movement started in China I'm betting it would make the US gov of the time look good by comparison and they don't have the vote to help pressure change. I mean we know what happened when there were democracy marches in China. In some ways China is lucky the most famous image is of a man standing up to a tank. The massacre pictures are much worse.

You can recognize the good and the bad in situations. British rule had benefits AND they did some HORRIBLE things. Trying to say the horrible things were ok because some things got better isn't a good argument. There is a reason history should be learned from. Arguments going "well yes we didn't kill of them so its fine" shouldn't be uttered. It isn't a scale where things balance or cancel each other out. Some things are bad and should be changed as fast as possible. The problem is in an autocracy there is no accountability for their actions; what they want goes. There isn't always in a democracy, but there can be.

I'm not saying democracy is perfect and I certainly will never say America is perfect. I will say democracy is better than autocracy every time though.

@ SD I doubt youtube videos are going to persuade him. One of the reasons I usually go logical argument both with this and other such arguments is doing a he said she said with these kind of people is pointless. Any source you provide they will just say is "bad / bias / fake".

True, but the ones i picked out (ive got loads more) show all sides... along with footage (in one of them anyway) to prove my point..

It’s hard to take public opinion polls seriously in a place where mentioning Winnie the Pooh can get you arrested. But that said, there is trustworthy data showing prosperity has been improving since Deng, and the friends I made in Chengdu, Hong Kong and Beijing all feel pride in China’s ascendance. They’d all like more freedom, but they look at the chaos in the US and it’s not very appealing.

I mean Tibet…the Uyghurs…you have to be drinking some seriously strong kool-aid to think they are happy the role China is playing in their territory. Ditto Hong Kong. Just because the US has pulled similar shenanigans in it’s history doesn’t make it okay from China, nor does it preclude us from calling them out on it.

*SIGH* I am really feeling sorry for you that your whole reality is based on fake news. alright

I know this is your favorite channel, but

Quote:CHatGPT There are some allegations on Reddit that the “Business Basic” YouTube channel may have been spreading misinformation1. A user claimed that the channel’s assertion about its videos being heavily disliked by Chinese bots and getting demonetized by YouTube was false1. The user also suggested that the channel might be using fearmongering tactics and promoting stereotypes1.

Quote: https://businesday.com/business-basics-y...is-a-scam/
The Business basics YouTube channel is a scam. The channel claims to offer business advice, but the content is either plagiarized or copied from other sources. The channel also uses clickbait tactics to get views, and the videos are poorly made.

The channel is run by a person who goes by the name of Mike Williams. Mike Williams is not a real person, and the channel is most likely run by a group of people. The channel has been around since at least 2016, and has over 100 videos.

The channel’s content is mostly copied from other sources. For example, one video is a copy of a video from the channel Business Casual. The video is titled “5 Ways to Get More Customers”.

The channel also uses clickbait tactics to get views. For example, one video is titled “The Truth About Business (Shocking!)”. The channel also has a number of videos with titles that are designed to get clicks but don’t actually offer any useful information.

The videos on the channel are also poorly made. They are often low quality and have poor production values. The audio is often distorted, and the videos are often cut off abruptly.

Overall, the Business basics YouTube channel is a scam. The content is plagiarized or copied from other sources, the videos are poorly made, and the channel uses clickbait tactics to get views.

Many scenes in the video are from Japan an other Asian countries. Just drives home why you "Free Tibet, Wherever The Fuck That is" FTWTFTI people have no creditability in geopolitics.

Maybe we should open up a new thread on dissing China so you don't have to go off-topic in this thread?

Maybe if we concentrate on our own problems we might create a better living here.

Karma bites! No sooner than you posted the flood in China vid, we get Maui  cry

There is a popular saying in the East, "Donald Trump wants to make America Great again, but Joe Biden made China Great again."
