I may have started adding this voting option after that event yes. Another common one would be cancelling open borders to try to magically get your armies or navy into places. Obviously usits are going to get teleported at war if they are in territory, just don't try to set up magic razes with them.

I teleported my army home in PB56 by cancelling Open Borders when you attacked me. Would that fall under the rule? I understand the intention but unclear rules like this one are not great.

Its also not great to have your attack delayed because someone purposefully put a unit under your stack or to get your cities razed randomly in ways not possible with normal movement. Did you cancel open borders to move your army a long way on purpose? Then yes that is against this rule. I realize it is a game mechanic, which is why I put it for a vote. I would say about the only time purposefully teleporting is ok is if you get attacked and make peace with someone that your army is in their territory. Can't really be avoided. In general try to abuse the mechanic. I realize its not a perfect rule, but as someone who has been on the other side a lot I think its better than nothing. People are allowed to vote how they want and I won't hold it against them though.

While I'm generally in favor of banning teleports, I would not consider this a teleportation trick.

My units get teleported because someone purposefully put a unit underneath them. I can't move or declare war from 1 tile to another tile freely in a logical manner. I consider this in bad taste and not how the game should be played. If you want to stop my attack you should build units and fight. However, I realize not all people think like me, therefore, I put it to a vote. People are free to vote however they want.

How should that work then? Am I not allowed to move into a tile your stack is also moving to? Am I required to move off? What if there are two stacks, both on a forested hill in neutral territory?

I think this is a difficult line to draw.

Its really not. If your purpose is to exploit the teleport mechanic. DON'T. Seems like a simple rule to me. Sure if you are retreating a unit along with an advancing stack it could come up that it is honestly your only option, but then so be it. In general I wouldn't worry about it over much. The PB65 situation was literally because it was in neutral culture and we had a peace treaty so I could couldn't declare earlier. The far more common situation is exploiting closing borders to move your armies to places they couldn't have gotten to. I see in the voting spreadsheet Ginger remembers my PB59 fun with Ramk pulling off a master class in the art on a map very conducive to it.

On the whole "post-Christmas start" thing; I'm travelling from 24th Dec to 7th Jan and do not plan to have access to a Civ machine, so earliest start availability for me would be 8th Jan.

I'll have internet/forum access, so can do admin stuff over that period if needed.
