Oh, I like that start.. and I guess I know which tech has to be researched first for my worker :D

Do I understand it correct that being last in picking order means I actually can't pick anything, and Roosevelt of Scandinavia it is?

No, being last in the picking order means youare the first player to get your second pick, and thus are the only one that can pick both at the same time, thus guaranteeing some form of synergy.
Playing: PB74

Dedlurked: PB56 (Amicalola) - PB72 (Greenline)

ok, understood, thanks.

So basically I'll need to wait till it's at least close to my pick to narrow down what options I've left..

A start with plenty of animals means animal husbandry is #1 on the list, and I might need copper to chop very soon, too.

Fishing isn't of importance..

4 or 5 hammers mean that an Expansive Civ would get it's worker faster..

And I might need a lot of workers on such a start..

I suggest you read the CtH changelog, especially the parts about traits. EXPansive doesn't have a worker bonus anymore, but is still considered strong on the Granary bonus alone. PROtective is actually a pretty decent economy tech now.

It's also a good idea to read the trait evaluations that used to be common in earlier CtH games, such as this one from PB62.

That's a bit better I believe.. (unless you're choosing imperialistic for the 50% settler bonus on hammers)

A bit less forest though.. but the longer river for sure is nice.

Well, since I'm last to pick (but then both), I still have some time to think about it..

With the large map setup, I was thinking of something strong economically and easily defendable..

So, it's my turn now:

Taken are:

Sumeria
America
Egypt
Inca
India
Ottomans
Zulu
Napoleon (only pick of leader rather than Nation)
Rome

Obviously, couple of those Nations were eye'd by myself..

Thinking of a good leftover Nation..

Maya sound good with their anti-horse unit which is good against getting rushed early (especially considering Egypt is in) - and their 3 happy face UB replacement would come in handy with a Charismatic (100% bonus) leader.

So it should be Charismatic.. and then a second trait.. was thinking either Financial or Aggressive.

Leaders could be: (all Charismatic plus one)
Boudica AGG (I know she has a bad reputation?)
Hannibal FIN

Couldn't find any other combination with either Charismatic and either AGG or FIN

Will play a SP game with Boudica and Hannibal each (as Maya) to see what I prefer, but won't sandbox (yet) .. just trying to get a feeling of either of them to decide.

Will fix my choice tomorrow Saturday.

Any wrong thoughts above (like, I missed something? changed with CtH? went through the changes notes..)? Happy to get comments from the lurkers..
