Isn't an axe more expensive than a WC?

A settler is even more expensive Makes much more sense to throw away an axe vs. WC to save a city then waste a settler to preserve two axes (who could well die anyway, since sacrificing the city didn't damage or eliminate the WC).

Small update:
Strike attacked my WC with the two axes, he won the second battle. You might have read about my plans from my emails to seifer, so I won't repeat myself in-depth, but here's it in a nutshell:
In-game
o Get longbows (due in 11 turns)
o Get catapults (need maths+constr. after longbows)
o Whip axes, spears and WC's
o Revolt to Hereditary Rule (next turn) for "unlimited" whipping
Diplo
o Make Strike realise he has nothing to gain anymore
o Attempt to make him attack Kyan instead, offer help (not likely)
o Seifer is giving out intel for me
At first when I heard how many units Strike already had, I was shocked. I fully expected him to have planned to attack me all along, but I did not expect him to have a stack of that size already built. Anyway, my choice to raze First of May turned out to be a good move considering all this. Also, Strike keeps making mistakes, no doubt he'll keep it up. It's good to be in a green game ^^
I've gotta admit my risky science path didn't succeed as well as planned. I was on my way to catch up by spamming 3-4 cities quickly and workers for them all, but unfortunately this war had to happen right as I was about to begin that. But still, ignoring growth so long was not a good idea. It remains to be seen can I catch up after Strike is dealt with.
Also, this just in. I made a mistake myself, but didn't notice it until after I uploaded the save. Let's see what happens. It's a terrible feeling when all you can do is wait!

.. And we're clear. His two chariots were located 1SW of where his remaining chariot is now. He could have moved 1SE, 1E, then next turn razed my empty city. However, he didn't. Now it's safe. What he did was attack my war chariot from behind a river, lost one battle but won the second one (same than with two axes earlier, but this time he had 75% odds in the second fight instead of 99%).

Sorry for the stretching widescreen picture, I don't have my usual monitor on Anyways! The ultimate showdown is coming up!
Here's Strike's forces (so far):
- 4 axemen
- 3 chariots
- 2 spears
And mine:
- 2 axemen
- 1 war chariot
- 2 spears
- 1 warrior (upgrade?)
I'll only have 1 spear defending Shiva, it's the one that'll be completed next turn. That's just to deny a quick chariot raze, so if he wants to bother with that he'll have to walk his slow troops there. Anyway, my main objective is to bring everyone in Anima and take my last stand there. I'm hoping he'll sacrifice against it. Not much I can do about pillaging unless he makes mistakes doing it. I researched Archery (1T tech) to build a couple of archers since his troops are pretty balanced. I'll hopefully have three of those ready by when he could attack Anima.
I'm not really planning to be efficient anymore.. Regardless of if I get peace before or after the attack, I would have to play catch up. Might as well have some fun fighting. But I will not give up!

No additions to Strike's army this turn, but he is still building a road to my lands. However, he's building it ON my lands, so it won't help him at all. Maybe he's just confident that he'll capture my city and is just roading to his near-future city. Anyways, new 1-movers will no longer catch up with his main stack, so he'd have to push back his attack if he wanted more troops.
Best case scenario is that he will sacrifice his stack against my city and then sign peace. After that, I will start expanding and planning how to kick his ass
In other news, I met Malakai a while ago and we've had a good start. Not that it matters if I get eliminated soon.

Unit updates!:
Strike's forces (so far):
- 4 axemen
- 4 chariots (1 new!)
- 2 spears
And mine:
- 2 axemen
- 2 spears
- 1 war chariot
- 2 archers (2 new!)
- 1 warrior (will be upgraded!)
Then, next turn I will get another pair of 1-turn archers. I'm sending the first one from Shiva to Anima, but it won't make it in time if Strike attacks across the river. So I'll have 2 archers in if he attacks across the river, but 3 (or even 4) if he crosses it first. The lone warrior will be upgraded next turn to an axeman.
Anima is unhappy because I haven't revolted to HR yet. Can't afford a turn of anarchy atm.

After running some simulations... Strike is doomed. That's all.
EDIT: Well, might as well add this here. Cull bumped into my lands on his turn.

Unit update: (Now with seperate stacks!)
Strike's forces next to Anima:
- 4 axemen
- 3 chariots
- 2 spears
Strike's forces further away:
- 1 axemen (north) (1 new!)
- 1 chariot (near Shiva)
Jowy's forces in Anima:
- 3 axemen (1 new!)
- 2 spears
- 1 war chariot
- 3 archers (1 new!)
Jowy's forces in Shiva:
- 2 archers (1 new!)
- 1 spear
I decided not to send an archer from Shiva to Anima.. It could have been picked off in the clear ground by a chariot. Anyway, it's good I have some defenses over there too, I wouldn't be surprised if Strike turns around and goes for Shiva since Anima won't fall. I'm thinking of switching my research towards catapults so I can clear that stack. Haven't really invested much towards feodalism yet, just 1 turn IIRC.
Lurkers! Anyone know if new units pop up at the end of your turn, at the end of the cycle or at the start of your next turn? I'm going to guess end of the cycle, but it'd be nice to have confirmation.

As far as I have seen Jowy, it seems to be end of your turn. At least when I hit "End Turn" growth and production are calculated and the respective numbers updated.
