[SPOILERS] yuris125 on a Pitboss77 boat

Ummmm... I did originally go workboat first

Oh well, I'll make do smile

And we're back. Fingers crossed the game survives

Worker first instead of workboat allows for slightly faster early tech, as I get the extra commerce from spices. The plan is going to be to farm the corn, mine the unforested hill, then road through the eastern forest until BW comes in

I suspect east is where the second city is going to go. The northern city needs to be NW-N-N(-N?) of the capital. The issue is that all its food is in the 2nd ring. NW-N-N can take over the corn, but the capital won't build enough improvements to thrive without it to give it over to the second city. The western city probably goes on the desert hill, but it's not good enough of a spot to be the second city. Scout is on the way to investigate the options in the east

I am so sorry for that mistake, hope if doesn't screw up too much in your planning. frown

No worries, thanks for the help in getting the game back on track smile

So much for having 2nd city in the east

There is room for a city here, but either with a single clam for food, or using wheat from the island as the second food. Neither option is appealing for the second city, and I would like to scout the islands before deciding how to best use the wheat

My guess is that the second city will end up going north, I might bump religion up the priority list and pop borders that way

Not doing any serious planning while on holiday though

Quick thoughts upon revealing the starting island (I still need to check the far western ocean for the seafood, and the scout will go there next, but apart from that I have the full knowledge)

Second city will be NW-N-N of the capital. This is a faster location to get the city started, thanks to stealing the corn from the capital, and doesn't have low value ocean tiles. It does delay utilising the fish, but I know it will be accessible from the NE island. I also would like the grassland in the capital's region to be cottaged - possibly the only area where cottages will be in my empire - so overlap between the capital and the second city will help grow cottages faster. For the extra food, I mentioned the possibility of early religion for border pop, another option would be Stonehenge, a wonder De Gaulle really likes. Will depend on how many spare hammers and how many spare beakers I have - but I'm too lazy to recreate the sandbox on the laptop, will have to wait until I'm back home for that. There are enough forests to build it, only question is if I will have worker power

Forests around the capital will be converted into workboats / workers / settlers. I do need a lot of workboats, for tile improvements as well as for scouting

The third city will probably go to the east, on the hill where the scout is. Land there is low quality, all plains, but I can build Moai there, and as a longer term prospect we can get some serfdom farms or caste system workshops. I do think I want the option of working the wheat in that city, and also stick to hills as much as possible for city locations

The last city on the starting island will be on the desert hill W of the oasis (assuming no relevant reveal from the westmost hill), it is a decent spot even without a border pop, just working the oasis and the elephant. I don't know if this will be the 4th city though, depend on what I will find on the islands

The unanswered question is where I will build the Oracle, if forests are spent building units for expansion, Stonehenge, and Moai. Hopefully I will find an island spot where I can do it. Alternatively I could build the Oracle in the 3rd city and Moai somewhere on the islands. Would bring back the question of which tiles I'm working in the 3rd city though

Researchwise, I'm considering fitting Mysticism to enable Stonehenge somewhere with Pottery and Sailing, and delay Hunting / AH until after those three. But I probably won't need to make that decision for over a week while I wait for BW, so it can wait until I'm back

I'm back from holiday, and the game is no longer dying. Good to see

Time to start simming. I did some napkin math while still on holiday and it looked like growing to 3 faster was preferable to getting a workboat out a turn sooner. Hence working the lake for now. Hope I didn't screw anything up by this choice

I expect to build another workboat before starting the settler at 4, revolt to slavery while the workboat is on the way to the second crab, and help the settler with a whip. This will be the first thing I put in the sim

I have a plan

It involves building Stonehenge before the 3rd city, and no military before T50

What can go wrong

Research after BW: AH - Mysticism - Sailing - Pottery. Then probably towards Priesthood for Oracle
Capital's build order: finish current workboat - Workboat (chop) - Settler (chop) - Worker (whip) - overflow into scouting workboat - (hammer dump into something while regrowing, probably barracks) - Settler - Galley
Revolt to slavery while the workboat is moving to the second crab, seems better than waiting until the settler is out
Second city starts on workboat, switches to Stonehenge as soon as Mysticism is researched. Two chops to finish it and finish the workboat right after. Copper popped 1E of the second city, that helps with the hammers for the Stonehenge as well
Third city probably goes on an island unless I somehow find nothing better than the ivory spot

After playing around with sequencing, I will go Sailing before Mysticism. I started feeling galleys coming too late and lack of useful things to build if I went Mysticism first. This matters even more if I want the 3rd city to be on an island, and therefore need to have a galley out when the 3rd settler finishes. The updated plan doesn't even delay Stonehenge much (currently coming eot49, with Mysticism first I think it was eot47)

Galley will come from the 2nd city, with whip overflow from it contributing to Stonehenge, so the 3rd city will likely have to go in the northern direction

Slavery adopted, second crab workboated

Capital is actually going to grow to 5 before starting settler. It wll be whipped 5->3, thus letting the capital work all the high food tiles, including the sheep down the line. I tried building a settler at 4, but 5->3 whip turned out to be better than either 4->2 whip or hard building at 4

Working high commerce configuration at the moment to ensure AH is not delayed when I switch to high hammers for settler production. The plan for the worker is to put a chop into the settler, then road NW of the capital for settler movement, and start improving the sheep right after that - so AH needs to finish by the time worker is done with the next two tasks
