eta for the settler?
1t. Figure chop forest into totem pole, overflow into a workboat. Capital builds worker after settler, followed by probably another settler. AH-.... sailing or pottery as our next goal?

yeah, that all sounds good. i wonder how quickly we want the capital to get out another workboat for scouting? i feel like probably not quite yet but seems like a good intermediate-term thing to do....
hmm, i definitely agree on pottery/sailing in some order.... which one first is a close call. i think proooobably pottery? then the capital can double-whip a granary pretty much immediately and the second city can chop into it....
not sure when the right time to build a galley to go settle for the juicy PRO ICTRs is. i feel like not before the granary (i'd rather have doubled growth in the capital than 3-4 extra commerce) and probably not before the lighthouse either (+2 food is also probably better than +4 commerce at this stage, i thiiiink). but maybe shortly thereafter, or when we run out of strong spots on the home island, whichever comes first? i do think the clam city on the eastern island is stronger than at least some of the spots on the home island (since it picks up the clam from the capital border pop and doesn't need a totem pole first) and it looks like it has more non-garbage land tiles than the first-ring fish and crab spots... so maybe 4th city is about the right time to go there? idk

no horse on main island?? interesting...... i mean, i guess it's not like they're essential with this kind of setup lol. do we see one on a different nearby island or nah?

WAS going to settle on the desert, but i figured that first ring food might be better in the short-medium term and i really wanna pump out as many cities as possible. PRO ICTR should keep us afloat, and CHA/silver/ivory should also give us plenty of whipping power.

omg wait, a ton has happened!
i agree about REXing with PRO ictrs (heading to currency, i assume?) and would have made the same decision you did about preferring a plains hill plant with first ring food over settling on the desert.
any plans to get out some scouting work boats soon to make contact? or barring that, do we know anything about the map size and likely inter-player distances? i am a little concerned that right now we have no way to know if we are about to accidentally pinkdot someone or not
i also wonder when we are supposed to go for metal casting on archi maps without colossus available. obviously triremes are the unit for security in this era, but before currency with a PRO civ seems like something we want to avoid if it can be done safely. but having never played a water map before, i really don't know if it CAN be done safely...?
thoughts on moving the city on western clam island 1N so we can eventually squeeze in another city 3S of it? or is that too marginal to be worth it, given that the only food would be stolen from another (better) city?

we dont really want to be in a position to take away the fish from our future Moai city i think.
Accidentally pink-dotting as CHA/PRO/NA.... is probably the best case scenario
Id think going for MC once we have Currency (even as PRO) Forges imo, likely arent going to be in very many cities. Triremes i feel are going to have a somewhat short lifespan unless someone does some kind of weird timing-blockade attack.

how goes it? :D
have we met any neighbors?
i think i agree about tech path.... i guess even on a water map, trireme on trireme warfare would be pretty pointlessly mutually destructive.... as long as nobody tries to drop of units with galleys, but really it's them that should be fearing us doing that (and then making suboptimal snowball choices to accommodate it), i guess
