So, me and my wife reached the following compromise. I am not signing up. However, if there will be no 8th player by the moment Tarkeel finishes the map, I will step in to make the game possible.

Completely understand that one; the home front is important.

Honestly, I think the mexican standoff is best avoided here. With Dreylin that's 8 so far; I won't have time to work on the map untill next weekend so I'll leave signups open until sometime next week.

Nobody has chimed in one way or the other on my proposed acceleration; I believe the extra first-tier tech opens up more civs than usual, and the free worker should both skip the first 12 turns of the game and make forested deer not the instantly best starting resource.

I'm a little leery of that kind of accelerated start, but am not totally opposed. I was noodling with Scooter a while back that instead of forested deer or banana one of the things to open up starts would actually be a commerce resource on the plains hill like Commodore did PB54. A 12 turn worker means you HAVE TO have multiple worker techs asap to fully use. But a 15 turn worker and accelerated starting teching might be better to allow more diverse civ choices. Or a 12 turn worker along with the extra commerce if you want to. Take your pick.

The acceleration wasn't listed under the voting options, so I just took it as given. 

I also liked the sound of it anyway. The only thing that comes to mind to be careful of, is whether food is first or second ring to the capital becomes much more important. Usually your borders would be popped by the time you build your first worker, but your worker might be sitting around for 5t here.

No strong feelings on the proposed acceleration; I did think the extra tech we had in PB78 opened up some interesting additional options, but gaining a Worker as well might close some down again maybe?

Not sure if I saw this answered, but will participants know their ranking pool before the start, or not until scouting reveals neighbours?

Oh has to be when scouting so we can all disagree and provide outrage as we scout.

While normally I don't do tier lists I do think all the players should do one before the groups get decided to help out the lurkers.

i thought pretty seriously for a long time about signing up, but i really shouldn't commit to another game while my current one is ongoing (and probably until a few months after that too lol). but i'll be lurking and heckling with interest
