1) I would switch to serfsom during the ga. This isn't the game for it long term, but it's a good ga civac. I think you already have a good shot at a soonish 2nd ga so I wouldn't use caste, but then again I hate caste (a lot of people do use for purpose you described). But ya spread religion to high prod cities first to further spread.

2) do not close borders! Do you want to start a dog pile against you! I'm already a smidge nervous because of incoming ap. If the glh player is clearly leading that is one thing. And xist is protective which is one of the reasons I like pro is that glh leads to less closed borders from others.

Sure! Just hit GA and switched civics to Serfdom, Org Religion, Vassalage, and Hereditary Rule.

Small update with a trade question:

I don't understand this T157 trade from xist, what does it mean?

If it was 300, it would obviously mean let's go f*ck up Sparta, if it was 100, obv. that means, "Let's keep it 100", but 400 is confusing.
Maybe he's suggesting I tech HBR (373) to build up Knights (I just finished Guilds).

I may be finishing Chichen Itza on T159. Didn't plan on it, just wanted fail gold as usual, but I guess it's not bad and helps calm my paranoia until Rifling.
Must be considered a weak wonder to still be around this long.

I don't mind ToA as its a ton of gp points, but I'm less high on Itza. Make sure to keep up both reg infrastructure and military building. I will say it may be worth finishing but mainly because there is a non zero chance no one else ever builds for fail gold so might as well not waste the production already put in.

Accepting vs mirroring isn't an exact science. It really depends if you want want other people to know or not. And obviously one of the parties may while the other may not. And in a greens game who knows.
