[SPOILERS] - scooter's thread

Just a short, boring, all-text update.

I'll try to add some space between some of my sentences so it looks like I wrote more.

Serdoa told me yesterday he won't be attacking Twinkletoes after all... Apparently he was mistaken about TT violating a settling agreement (shocking isn't it??). So he's going to leave TT alone for now, and instead he's going to send 3 catapults to me to help KO Dazed once and for all. For awhile I was worried that even 3 cats wouldn't do the job because he already had 6 archers and wasn't showing any signs of stopping building them, but he decided to be brave and send two archers to come harass me.

He stacked them together of course, but I was able to keep him off good defensive terrain, and was able to hit them with one axe on open ground. That killed one archer without hurting my axe that much (free XP), and I was able to move two axes on top of that axe to clean up next turn. Since he knew his second archer was as good as gone, he tried to retreat it, but I was able to use my roads again to kill him on the retreat, which cut him down to four archers in his city. He no longer has two warriors in the city, as he sacrificed both of those to prevent me from keeping his worker that I captured earlier.

To the domestic side of things, I've been sending gold to Serdoa each turn for the last 3 turns, and I'm about halfway paid up for the city he gave me. Once I get to halfway (and the gold/turn goes down to 2), I'm going to stop and grab the rest of Monarcy so I can get Hereditary Rule in place (much needed), and then I"ll finish out the debt.

I'm boating over a settler to found a third city on the island (the SE location), and I'm slipping out a quick work boat from the capital (so it can grow basically), then I'll build another settler to take the west coast spot 1S of where I razed a barb city. Great Lighthouse will keep me afloat, as otherwise I definitely couldn't afford those cities.

Whoops, I was off by a turn. I was actually over halfway there this turn, so I swapped to 100% science. I had to micro a couple tiles, but I ended up getting Monarchy at EoT, with probably exactly 0 beakers to spare. Next turn I'll revolt, then I'll spend two turns accumulating gold to finish payment to Serdoa.

Picture time! Care to guess how many pictures I'll include? I'll give you a hint, it's a number greater than 9 and less than 11. If you guessed 9.4, you are wrong.

Alright, so I've been slacking in many departments:

1. I haven't posted many pictures here (get used to it, I'm busy)
2. I haven't been naming my cities after cheeses like I planned
3. I was still spending EP's on Serdoa on accident (or so he informed me). I should be spending on TT instead who's graph I am missing.
4. I haven't eaten at Subway in awhile
5. I've been posting dumb numbered lists lately

Alright, starting today, numbers two and three are going to change. Four will change later this week, and numbers one and five, well I make no promises.

Okay stupid jokes aside, first let's look at my only city that was already cheese-i-fied, my capital:

I want to grow grow grow the cottages. The farmed river tile is getting bulldozed as of this turn in favor of a cottage. The market will be extremely useful, growing my happy cap and the +25% gold will actually be nice since I expect my slider to be floating around 50% for awhile.

Next is the artist formerly known as Cuzco:

I renamed it to Provolone. Felt like a solid choice, given that Provolone is the type of cheese I always pick when I go to Subway. Something I'll mention right now, is that you'll see the happy cap is a HUGE issue right now. At some point during these pictures you'll note the Anarchy at the top of the screen. I swapped to Hereditary Rule, which I'm expecting to be quite helpful. I also will be hooking up the silver within about 5 turns, which will be even better. Added to that, markets will start going up, so I expect the happy cap to settle down a little bit pretty soon. Moving on:

The former Incan capital, which is struggling under crippling happy issues. I chose Mozzarella. It had 2 "motherland" happy, but after a whip that dropped to 1. Unfortunately it was replaced by +1 for whip and +1 for war weariness, the first sighting of that. It's the only city to hit any WW though. At some point in the turn I did SOMETHING that gave me +1 happy, and for the life of me I can no longer remember. Either way, I was working one additional tile at the end of the turn.

This is the city Serdoa captured that I bought, which has been renamed to Swiss. During the turn, a couple workers completed a cottage on the tile 1SW of the city, but it's not shown in this picture yet. It'll probably be whipped several times due to the generous food surplus.

Tiwanaku -> Colby, my first island city. The borders expanded this turn, which was nice. Buddhism auto-spread here a couple turns ago, which was helpful. I'm somewhat lacking in workers on the island (yes I know Sullla will likely weep in the lurker thread seeing me working an unimproved tile), but I was able to finally chase down that barb worker, so that helped a little bit. Moving on.

Barb city -> Parmesan. Mega smoke on me here, as I forgot to whip after renaming and snapping the picture. Stupid. Here's to hoping I remember next turn. Actually at this point I may just let it go and double-whip a worker at size 4.

Well that's all my cities... Let's take a look at my islands - this being the water off my east coast:

Some very lush islands... I like it. Here's my next city:

Alright I need a name for this one... Anyone have a favorite cheese they'd like to nominate? I could pick a random one from Wikipedia's cheese article (seriously, there's a massive list), but that'd be boring. I need a nomination! And if you're too slow and someone nominates a good one before you, you've got a second chance, riiiiiight here:

This is the refounding of the horribly placed barb city. I got permission from SleepingMoogle about this (due to our deal we had in place). Actually now looking at the picture I'm laughing... I told myself early on I'd take this picture and circle the city where the settler was coming from, and the whole point was to see how many turns were left on the settler build. I just noticed it says 55... Whoops! It has 5 turns left if I don't whip.

Finally, a mind-bending picture of the entire world:

Little confusing, but you'll get the idea if you stare at it awhile longer. You can see the edge of the strip way over there... I thought about loading up an axe or two on a galley and sending him over. I could explore, and as a side bonus I'm sure I could find enough barbs to get to Heroic Epic. More important things cooking right now though, but it's a thought on my mind.

Serdoa plans to have 3 cats to me on T70. Dazed currently has 4 archers... I wouldn't be shocked if that number hits 6 again by the time I wheel my cats all the way over there. I'm honestly slightly worried about that - that I won't have enough. We'll see...

One last question, what's the big magic formula for determining how many hammers a city has stored in it? Would be nice so I know when to expect each archer from him.

I've used this formula

Hammers = (SabotageCost * (TheirEP + 100)) / (3 * InvestigateCost)

I hope it is right wink.

Whenever I go into a subway station, it's always crowded, grimy, and faintly reeking of urine. When I go to a Subway store, it's not all that different.

Anyway, you appear to already have enough cheeses, but I nominate Brie for an eventual city. thumbsup
