PBEM3 - Email and Technical Issues

Hey all,

As I think I may have already told some of you, I'm going to be moving to the UK Oct 2nd for postgrad, and that means I'll have to leave my gaming desktop behind in the US. For that reason I'll be stuck with my badly outdated laptop, and I'm highly dubious that it will be able to handle playing the turns. Even if it could, I believe that for the foreseeable future I may be unavailable to continue playing the game at the turn-a-day pace we've fortunately been able to largely maintain thus far.

For this reason, I'm actively looking for a replacement player to take over for Rome. I've posted a recruitment request on Civfanatics, and invite any reasonably unspoiled lurker reading this post to send me a PM if you'd like to take over for me.

Apologies to everyone for having to withdraw from the game- I'll continue playing for as long as I can, but if I can't access the game then there isn't much else I can do.

Understandable. Here's hoping you'll find a replacement player.

Germany? I've never even been to Germany!

Outstanding optimism.lol

What?! Huh, maybe I just assumed based on your play window... or because Sandover sounds a little like Hanover.

Nonono.. Obviously Sandover lives in Egypt. There's a lot of sand there, so he's representing his home turf in this game! lol

Good luck in the UK Bob, and thanks for playing. smile

Assuming Bob can't find a replacement before leaving - are we ready to end the game at that point?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to bully you all around some more, but I figure CiV is severely limiting our chances of getting someone to step in. Imo we might as well call it a day if the vacancy isn't filled by the end of the week.

I have no objection to ending the game

The question was proposed earlier, but as far as I understand it there was enough incentive to keep the game going at least for now. If no replacement can be found for Bobchillingworth though, we may have to reconsider. Ultimately, as long as players wish to continue I won't mind carrying on.

Well first off, if we can't find a replacement, then ending it might be the only option. We haven't advertised in the main forum, so I might give that a shot.

If we could potentially find a replacement, I wouldn't exactly be devastated if we conceded the game, but overall I'd like to keep going, unless everyone else was sick of the game. I know my own chance for winning is low, but I view it as high enough that I wouldn't want to give up just yet. Crazier things have happened (Munro in PB1)...

I'm up for replacement, if there's no one else to be found, but i won't have civ4 up for at least 3 days.

Awesome! Post here or PM me with your email address, and I can send you the necessary Civ info (password, state of civ, diplo status, etc.)
