The grass hill? Yes, it would still be a river, but we get no benefit besides defense for settling on a grass hill, and we'll probably get some useless coast tiles in the BFC (useless in that non-lake coasts are pretty terrible if you're unable to build a lighthouse).
We're all keeping our east-west straight, right? I'm talking about moving closer to what I suspect is the coast. Is anyone talking about moving inland, towards the plains?

What makes you think that going west brings us to the coast?
Settling on the hill gives us another grass river tile to cottage, hence my suggestion.
EDIT: Settling on hill also brings a forested plains hill into the BFC for some much needed base production outside the forests

If you look carefully at the river mouth visible in the screen shot, it appears to be opening up. This may indicate that it is emptying into an ocean. It looks too big to be a simple widening of the river on its course. Moving to the southwest hill will give us a coastal tile in the N-NW part of the BFC. The tiles immediately W of the hill seem to be land, but 2W of that could be coast, meaning that a large portion of our BFC is potentially useless.
If it turns out that there is coast to our west, and there is food there, we may as well settle coastal. If I'm wrong, then settling the hill is ok.

I think we are ok but I agree that if it turns out that it is emptying into the ocean, we should settle coastal.
If it turns out to be just normal land, I think that settling on the hill has to be the strongest play if we find some food.

Might it be a good idea to go ahead and move the warrior to the hill SW in order to see where the coast is exactly, before we start arguing about where to put the city?

OK. So my home internet is out. I drove out just to get net access to play the set. I was intending to play the full 30 turns, come Hell or high water, but... well, what the Warrior revealed stumped even me... rather, not even I am willing to take the flak for a unilateral move. There's fodder for debate, but I won't be able to play until .... sometime tomorrow, maybe.
Cows. Freakin' cows. Any other food source and I would have happily plopped down. But cows. At least they're on grasslands.... Good news, at least, I guess, is that it was a lake after all. But unless you all want to take a shot in the dark, I'd move somewhere west and settle. If nothing else, we could farm the non-river grasslands adjacent to the lake in order to speed up growth when necessary, although that's certainly not as nice as a corn or pigs or what have you.
Settling on hill means +1 riverside grassland. Move 1NW means we get both Ivory in the BFC. Debate. See you tomorrow.

If we are taking a stab in the dark, then I still think moving SE onto the forested plains hill is the best risk as we gain the extra production. We could also move to the plains hills 2S 1E or 2S 1W for the same risk/reward issue.
The only other 'big' risk is to settle in place. Keeps both Ivory in BFC, tonnes of production and the borders will pop for the cows before we get the worker?

Settling in place gives 6 hills, 2 ivories, cow, and lots of river grasslands, perfect for a hybrid city.

Settling in place... there could be a food resource two tiles east. Can't tell if that's a break in the forest or not without having the game open.
Settling in place could be the best bet at this point... =\ Not sure how good of a hybrid city it will be, though. If we cottage grasslands, won't have the food surplus for the hills, unless we eventually put windmills on them, but that forgoes production (though once we get electricity, they'll get our Financial boost).
