I think, looking at it. Vicky & Gandhi starts are much too fantasmagorical!
Zara could be fun given the lack of UU & UB until the late game.

Thanks guys. Souns like it will be fun then.
The only thing i ask is PLEASE can we not be Zara of Germany. I kid you not but i've played as Germany in my last 3 random games and i'm thoroughly bored of them. One of those was even as Zara!
Zara is a good leader but would prefer something other than him. I voted Vicky as it's ridiculously powerful but Ghandi or something else are good too. My problem with civ is i can only really play one way- economy. I tend to just rely on financial cottages. That's, i guess, why PBEM4 was a good change for me altho i'm still mildly bitter about my leader there comparatively

Alright, so Zara is out then. That means TT and Tatan need to recast their votes.
Nakor and Kyan still presumedly vote for Vicky.
I remain open to persuasion. Ghandi is my favorite leader, so I could easily go that way. But I will still vote for Sury at the moment. I've never played with Vicky before (or the Imperialistic trait), so really, again, I am wishy-washy.

I recommend reading one of the good Immortal/Deity OCC guides online, and if we don't use the Ghandi start, taking that save and running an OCC. It will be eye-opening to you to see what you can do with a Specialist Economy, or at least it was for me. Having one city capable of 1400 beakers/turn and 300 hammers/turn is really unfathomable if you've only ever ran a Cottage Economy.

Maybe we could use Ghandi and go for a cultural victory?

Cmon guys - that Vicky start is WAAAAAY too easy. India, 2 (non-jungle) gems, AND 2 corns at the start?!?!?

I'll change my vote to Ghandi then! Sounds like fun as well!
I'd like to get the Vicky, save, though, for practice purposes...

Poor Sury, no one wants him but me.
Any objections to Ghandi?
And are we going to go for culture? Personally, I think culture is the easy way out. If I get to nine cities and see that I am not competitive tech wise, I pull the culture alarm switch and backdoor my way into victory. But I never go for culture from the start, so that would be a change.
Generally when I have a 3-food tile in the initial box and mining, I go for Bronze Working, warrior-->whipped worker by turn 13-15. And we do have a ton of choppable forests (Oracle?). But given corn and rice, I could also do Agriculture first. Thoughts?

I have no preference with the starts [although, gotta say, the Vicky start looks a bit too easy]. As for victory... real men go Time!
Warrior + Bronze Working opening sounds good to me. We should be cautious about building an early game wonder like the Oracle, though, because with Philosophical that will pretty much definitely mean our first 2-3 GPs are Great Prophets. However, if a Culture win is what we desire, more prophets for more religions isn't exactly a bad thing.
Since I assume we will be going with the Gandhi start: although it has a lot of food, the start looks production weak. Depending on what's down there, we should consider settling 1S, which will pick up at least two [if my fog-reading is correct] more grass hills.
Played in: PBEM 4 [Formerly Jowy's Peter of Egypt] | PBEM 10 [Napoleon of the Dutch] | PBEM 11 [Shaka of France] | EitB XVI [Valledia of the Amurites] | PB7 [Darius of Rome] | Diplomacy 3 [Austria-Hungary] | PBEMm/o vs AutomatedTeller

That is a decent point about Oracle. Any early game Wonders you guys want? No need for 'Henge with Creative.
I don't plan to move, but can be convinced otherwise. The only direction we can see any tiles that won't be in the BFC is SE, and if I move that direction, I give up river tiles in the north. Also, with that many tiles fogged over, I don't trust that we aren't moving away from a hidden resource.

I think we are fine settling in place, but 1S might be slightly better.
We get rid of that yucky plain for a riverside grassland and a couple of extra hills without losing any of those food resources.
Oracle is always nice but for a city like our capital, we really want to keep the pool well focused on Artists if we are going for culture or scientists if we aren't. With all that food and riverside grassland, it could be a Caste haven for specialists.
Only extra difficulty for culture is the difficulty in landing any of the early three religions. We need to get Agriculture & BW before we can divert to Mysticism & religion techs.
