Poor China facing against Genghis of Inca!

A couple of things from looking at the save.

We can trade Democracy to Cyrus for Astronomy, World Map and 330g.

And we may still want to found a city up near the tundra working the unworkable but camped deer to serve as a focus for any land attacks by Brennus. Our cities are vulnerable to pillaging by his Knights. We don't need to improve it, its just a sacrificial lamb in the case we are attacked.

I'd be curious what T-Hawk has to say on this, but I think that we should turn off the slider period as soon as we have Democracy.

We should be simply hording cash at the moment until we get our three +50% culture religion buildings up in each of the 3 Legendaries, and then run 100% culture at deficit cash. I think that is easily the best commerce to culture conversion we'll get. We simply need to finish every possible religious building--Hindu, Christian, and Jewish versions of Temples, Monasteries, and Pagodas--in each of the three Legendaries to get max value on the culture slider. And we can build the Hermitage in the weakest Legendary too while running the slider.

We will want to get out of Vassalage ASAP. That is going to cost us a ton of culture. In fact, there is no way I would run the culture slider while still in Vassalage. As soon as the waiting period lapses, get us back in Free Speech.

If you guys are that worried about Brennus, we can still tech to Rifles. And every city that isn't producing a courthouse, market, bank, or grocery to increase the sustainability of our cultural slider rate can just pump units.

I don't really want Cyrus to stop warring with Mansa, because once Mansa goes, we lose the yearning for motherland happiness penalty I think.

I think the slider really needs to be turned off ASAP. Anything else critical can be traded for. And if every other city builds units forevermore, there is no way Brennus can push through; we can simply swamp him with cats and cannon fodder. Speaking of which, I am in support of founding a barrier city; anything to safeguard the Great City of Gluttonsville.

I will play some time Wednesday [wait, it is my turn, right? lol]. Can't say when, though.

Depends on the goal. If it's to win as fast as possible, then yes. If it's to win as surely as possible, then go on up to Rifling and Steel to guarantee you won't get conquered. Emperor AIs won't beat you to a culture or space win so you have plenty of time to pick up extra defensive techs if you like.

T-Hawk,

I was more curious about what you thought about when to start the cultural slider. I think we discussed the Rifling tech earlier.

Is my idea to stockpile commerce until we have the multiplier buildings in place the right idea, or should we be running it already?

I'm really sorry about my total AFKness. We had a massive power surge at my house, and apparently my surge protector failed because our wireless router got totally @#$#ed up, and I couldn't get any internet on either of my computers. And with family staying, it took a while to get enough free time to get a way and get another router. banghead Anyway, turns played. I'm really sorry this took so long.

Turn 219
Man, things have changed a lot since I last played. We're bleeding a lot of cash, so I delete quite a few obselete axes, warriors, and archers, for total savings of 35 gpt. I guess most of them were old MP units, but we don't need those anymore with our current happiness levels. We're still going to need some military, however, so throughout the turnset I had several I had several of the non-legendary cities cranking out muskets and cats.

Slider turned to 100% gold, in order to follow GES's plan of efficient culture conversion.
I also make the following deal with Cyrus:

Check his world map:

Seems that sometime in the past Ghenghis and the Aztecs ganged up on China. Poor, poor China.

Turn 220
We proved the world was round, huzzah.

Met both foreign civs:

She never stood a chance.

Turn 221
Our GM runs a mission for a cool 2300 gold. Oh, and Hatshesphut is eliminated. crazyeye

Cyrus is willing to trade Sci Method, but I elect not to in order to avoid obsoleting the wonders and monestaries.

Turn 222
Someone else builds Versailles, we get 231 gold for it.

Turn 223
I'm finally able to revolt to Free Speech. GV bears a Great Scientist, I use him and the Prophet to pop another Golden Age.

Turn 224
GV finally hits Influential. The buffer city is founded.

Turn 225
[Image: Civ4ScreenShot0008-8.jpg]

ROFL, that's really likely to happen.

Pompeii's is poisoned rolleye. That reminds me, we should get at least one Spy stationed in each legendary city to avoid similar incidents.

Turn 226
Well, speak of the devil, UP gets poisoned too.

Regarding Hermitage: the consensus seems to be to put it in the weakest culture city. GV has the least amount of actual culture, but Bibracte is producing significantly less, so I start building it there.

Turn 227
Brennus comes demanding for us to cancel our deals with Mansa, so I comply in order to appease him. I also gift him Philosophy for an extra +2 in relations.

A GE is born in Bibracte. Sigh.

And... nothing else happened!

Progress of the three legendary cities:

And here is the impressive array of forces in Scapegoat City:

With more pouring in every turn.

Glad my scapegoat idea got took up!

Good set there Tatan!

If there are no wonders worth using, I suggest we use the GE and the spare Prophet to fire up another golden age when we run 100% culture.

and Nakor is UP!
