It's Master of Magic's 30th anniversary and CivFanatics have put together a big tribute covering some of the best fan projects going on at the moment including MoM mods & remakes, MoM fan communities (yes here is mentioned multiple times), MoM scenarios for Civ games, similar games to MoM, and lots of other MoM related stuff. Be warned it's a big read, but a good one for MoM & Civ fans.

Thanks for the article, and the heads up about it's anniversary!  Happy birthday Master of Magic! And thanks to everyone for keeping this old gem alive, and thanks to Steve Barcia and the rest of Simtex for bringing us such a great game!

I can solace in the fact that I am the first person to create new wizards for Master of Magic complete with animated portraits, new personally composed musical themes, and everything else that they originally had (Unless Seravy beat me to the punch with the touhou stuff, although taking second place to Seravy is no shame lol. Afterall, Seravy making MoM mod friendly is what made me decide to take a whack at it.) Who knows, if I ever complete the "Adders & Pythons" mod that I am working on which all replace all 14 wizards with fully complete new ones, maybe I'll email Steven Barcia about it and ask what he thinks about his garage project touching so far into the future!

Now, I may've missed Master of Orions 30th anniversary, but you make sure to post whenever they have another one lol. I never actually grew up with Master of Magic, I didn't know about it until I was already an adult. But I was playing Master of Orion back when I was like 6 or 7 years old, so despite the fact that I spend so much time modding MoM, Master of Orion holds a more special place in my heart I think. Although, both are still among the best, if not the actual best computer games of all time.

(Gosh, I wish someone like Seravy would make Master of Orion 1 mod friendly and fun natively on windows. MoO for Java or Remnants of the Precursors or whatever it's called now doesn't count to me, no offense to them. They did fantastic work, just not to my personal taste.)
