Epic 6 - "die...die...die..." said mihau

This is ALWAYS WAR scenario:
- no resource/tech trading
- WW will be enormous
- AIs will team up...
Since U want to play rough I will play rough too, no mercy for U bloathed AIs. :aar:

We will need to produce military and send attacks fast.
No barbs will support this since we will have no need for defence.
Religion would help for the WW/happines problem ...but weapons are more important :aar:.
I will try to use industrious Otto to go for Oracle/CS slingshot. (Never did this before)

ready... steady... KILL!

I MM to have warriors faster. 2 warriors will make a force capable of taking a city-capital early (noble lev. wink ) if I manage to find one soon. My scout scouted surroundings: we have sea S, E and N and went SW (going diagonally makes more land visible per turn). First warrior will go straight NW and if scout finds a civ earlier will manouver down. Keeping cloce the coast is a good tradition. 2nd warrior will take the shortcut if I will happen upon the city.

Production (MM for shields):
warrior - warrior - warrior - ...worker?
smoke

Science:
BW--> beelined for CoL with AH in between

3370 - Ghandi found while my 1st warrior strall -> WAR, soon Delhi was found, this was very lucky since my scout got lost in the south on the little horse pennisula and soon got killed, I guess sometime it is better be lucky than good. Delhi has 1 defending warrior in the city - tempting..., but my 2nd warrior is on his way only few tiles behind, waiting for the 2nd warrior near Delhi will be safer I only hope Mahatma won't produce more defence.
3160 - ATTACK: 1st warrior lost, 2nd has an easy job :aar: RAZE Delhi!, $$ comes in but one warrior is lost, the cityplace is awesome but the maintenance would kill me - I remember the pain from epic3 after taking Paris... not making the same misteake twice.

(...I wonder if anybody will try to capture Delhi with the first warrior and win huh )

3100 - Sally found me -> WAR,
2920 - I found Peter -> WAR, scout R.I.P in the SW
2800 - I found Toku --> WAR, waiting for the second warrior, unfortunately Toku made archers --> I start to pillage his tiles. He moved away with the settler - going after him. He settled a city - Osaka (the same place as in T-Hawk's report). I waited for the 3rd warrior and attacked the city at size 2. This time I took the city. It is WAAAYYY west but I will use it as a lightning rod for the AI's attacks (I had the same dilema as T-Hawk though). Sally is to the NW, Toku to the SW, everybody elese: W.

I started to make a road: transcontinental route smile

1480 - I founded Hamburg nearby the place U all did, but on the N bank of the river, taking both COPPER & STONE, I would have done 2 cities normaly but I suppose I won't build many settlers in this game. I had the resources already preconnected while making transcontinental route. Soonafter (1360BC) Stonehenge is built in Berlin.

835BC - Oracle (CoL discovered previous turn) took CS, unfortunately the holy city for Tao did not become the capital frown

275AD - Chicken Itza + Toku killed with chariots and Maceman :arr:

635 - Forbidden Palace in Osaka the lightning rod place, after chopping: 360/300 hammers needed - $$ problems end :2dance:

710 - Alex destroyed :aar:

815 - I lost a city in NW = Issy + Peter counterstrike, my forces in SW heal toast

I continously produced maceman, after my Stone+copper city made Heroic Epic I could produce a maceman every 4 turns, and capital was making them every 3-4 turns as well between wonders. Using transcontinental route to move units W I went for the Peter, Issy, Washington leaving Sally behind because he had no metals and I could easily keep him at his sandbox pennisula.

I took NW very quickly, I needed to produce galleys for last islandcities :aar: .

Conquest in 1304AD

I made most of the wonders not letting the AIs make many GPs to use for shrines/wonders/techs. Berlin was a good place for making wonders smile Only Alex managed to get Pyramids + Parthenon.
I don't think I saw any maceman resistance.
I didn't make catapults - only in the very end. My maces/axemanen were enough.

I have settled 3 sites near my capital but it was worthles effort: those cities (fish city + sheep&horse city + fur city) never made any significant role, beside grabbing horse which I only used for chariots in the early game.

I have made extensive prechopping, sometime I was moving the worker to the forest to keep it occupied with prechopping just to see ETA of chopping: 1 turn lol

example: Forbidden palace made in 1st turn after collecting all the courthouses

Soon the discussion about prechopping=exploit went out frown

PS: This time I resisted reading all other reports first before postingmy own one. Maybe that is why I post NOT a week after everybody :hippie:

haha, Gandhi killed by 2 warriors, I like it.

Poor AI, no one gave it any respect this game. Seems it didn't deserve any.

Gideon (or abgg118 to call?) did it with only 1 warrior, 3 turns earlier. Plus it seems He went for archery first and had archer's backup.

Nice and efficient. Did you ever regret razing Delhi? It that was just your second city, it doesn't seem like the maintenance costs would have been too high, but maybe any loss of gpt at 100% is unpleasant when trying the CS slingshot.

Paris provides us with a worker, but no new resources that we can see! Plus, it's wayyy far away from Cuzco. We decide to burn the City of Lights.

It was U who taught me how to raze distant capitals in early BC, now don't U make me feel sorry for what I've done wink
Comparing our 2 reports was striking at this point - striking me in the head.

When I was writing the epic 6, report (the words: "noble lev." to be precisely) it crossed my mind that I could have been too harsh on Delhi, but I guess it did not matter.
Osaka, which I kept, had been taken much before CS slingshot and did not blew the trick.

My long term goal was to establish a lightning rod city as far as I could from my land. Hold off there and launch invasion from there. I felt that Delhi in 3160BC was too early and I can push it more with 2-3 warriors on hand. I would have been in trouble if I got misteaken

My own quotes come back to haunt me! lol

Actually, the lightning rod city certainly worked. When I finally did get around to capturing Delhi, it was certainly a lightning rod, and attracted both land and sea assaults. Good work.
