Epic 7 - mucco's report

It's a short report this time, there wasn't very much to report wink a game without diplomacy, wars, and scientific competition isn't the most entertaining one. It showed me my limits, though!

Summary: went for culture, then for survival, then conquered in 2014 AD.
See you soon at a lower level lol.

A promising beginning gone south. That's painful.

I discovered that Civ3 style micromanagment (and the Pyramids) made Immortal feasible for me. And settling on the iron island allowed me to survive and prosper even after Alex came calling.

Good start - pity about Alex spoiling things. Good report too. One question - your arrow indicating the Islam holy city - how did you do that? My arrows would win an UGLY contest hands down.

Looks like you went for a similarish start as I did. Our difference? I didn't go for a religion, and did everything in my power to have a good relation with Alex.

I must agree, that arrow is very attractive smile

I'm glad to see someone go for Cultural! I have three suggestions for the future, number one you need to get your second city out much earlier than 655 B.C.. Number two try to hit Friendly relations with Alex (or any other nut job) when going for Cultural victory. It pains me to admit it, but the AI won't attack at Friendly and you will need that assurance since you will be behind in tech and power. You did the right thing with Heridetary Rule, you probably needed to adopt his state religion (not sure if it spread to one of your cities though). Number three, you will want at least six cities so that you can build two "Cathedrals" for each religion.

Your opening:

Research Path: Fishing -> Mysticism -> Meditation -> Polytheism -> Mining -> Bronze Working
Build Queue: Worker (partial) -> Workboat -> Worker (finished) -> Monastery
Second City: 2N of Stone, 655 B.C.

Thank you all for the replies!

@ Ruff: it's a bit difficult to tell how I did that arrow... I have paint shop pro X, used the "pen" option, but instead of the straight line I chose "curve Bezier". Then I dragged the first half of the arrow, and clicked on its destination. You can find similar arrows in my Epic 6 report, when I conquer Arabia.

EDIT: I put here some pics, to show how I do this. Hope it helps!

Grazie! It's been a real mess here for some time, I don't think a similar happiness and euphory in the whole nation has ever occurred since 1970 (forgive me Germans!). They should really put the wonder "World Cup" in civ!
Oh, BTW, I took a while to understand that one, because "tazza" is the cup where you drink tea lol we use "Coppa" for the trophy. Nice effort though, I really appreciated it smile.

Back on topic, you are very right on all three suggestions, I knew about the 6 city mark, and intended to found the 6th city where eventually Alex built his Muslim Holy City, so I was too slow there. You are right about having to settle earlier, I decided to wait because I didn't feel safe (Immortal barbs eek ), but then I should have built more military smoke it turned out that barbs were a non-factor in my game, so I should definitely have founded earlier. The diplomacy thing was like balancing on a rope, because I was constantly switching between Atheism (didn't have his religion in my borders) for the diplomacy, and Buddhism for the culture. Being spiritual was an advantage here. However, when Alex found that cursed city, the "border tension" minus put him down to cautious when I was in Buddhism, so I should have gone back to no religion, but I hoped to convert the city.

Thx - I use GIMP ... your answer gave the words I needed to google a solution. I found a few tutorials but I will practice and see how I do. You never know, my next report might have 000's of arrows (and animated GIFs too).
