Pindicator's Epic 7 report

Currently having technical difficulties. For a few days I couldn't upload files onto the free web hosting that I've been using. I have since uploaded files and now I find I can't view the site. The web host is looking into it. If you want to give it a shot, the report is currently here.

In the meantime, I'll post a quick summary. Openings have been detailed before, so here is mine. I settled on the spot.

Research: Fishing (3760), Mining (3490), Sailing(3040), Animal Husbandry(2650), Hunting (2470), Archery (2230), Pottery (1960), Mysticism (1750), Masonry (1510)

Early build order: Worker -> Work Boat (as soon as Fishing is done) -> Worker (queued) -> Work Boat (for circumnavigation)

2nd City: founded 4E of capital (1630BC)

Game Plan: grab early economic wonders and stay alive

I met Alex in 2290BC and he snuck attacked me with a couple of archers while I was finishing The Great Lighthouse. I had to whip both my cities to get defenders up as I only had warriors out. Built Pyramids & The Great Library and began running a specialist economy. Started leaving Alex behind in tech and I attacked him around 1400AD with a fleet of Macemen and Elephants. Razed all of his non-homeisland cities and then sat back and teched away to the stars. Space Victory in 1994AD

You were sneak attacked this early? huh Man, were you so light on defenders that Alex just thought he could smear you? Or was he just absurdly aggressive in your game? Had he settled on YOUR home continent yet?

The actual sneak attack looks like it was around 985 BC. See my post above for a working link to the first page of the report.

I've got the report working now. The link from the main post should get you there.

And yes, Alex attacked me in 985BC, which is still a lot earlier than he went after most people in reports I read. I think early contact plus light defenses made him think he had a shot at me.

Nice report, but one quick comment; you mention several times that you should have settled the Artist in Corinth, and then you display the 1750AD picture of the city and you're running two Scientists and an Engineer ... did you ever run Artist specialists instead? wink

Good game and report. I saw a lot of similarities between your game and mine. Even the names and locations of many of the cities were the same. Nice work on snagging so many wonders and on running a specialist economy too. 22 great people is pretty darn impressive for a non-philosophical civ!

Did I say I settled an artist in Corinth? I used a great work in the town -- I meant to say I should have settled him, as the culture over time would have helped me a lot more than a sudden great work. I think the great work netted me something like 2 tiles, if that, towards the Greek main island, and then in the later years I was losing tiles again.

And I was a little surprised on how many great people I ended up counting when going through my notes. I wonder, too, if there were any I missed? lol

Hmm...the other space racer (besides Blake) also ran a specialist economy. That's an interesting coincedence. Well played, I enjoyed reading it, and also thanks for documenting your opening for me smile
