This was fun - your basic domination romp culminating in a Cossack explosion. Just to make it different from any other game I had played before, I decided to build no wonders but the Kremlin. I had never played an ice age map before – now I think I’ll play a lot more.

I had never played an ice age map before – now I think I’ll play a lot more.

Ice Age is really special, I think. (It's my favorite!) The low food is part of it, but it's also the absence of jungle, the extra tundra, and the strange land formations that result from a larger land-to-sea ratio (low sea levels) combined with the elongated-wide map grid. The low food means less cottages, less specialists, more farms, and thus generally weaker economies and slower tech pace.

I liked how it took much of the wind out of the slavery civic. I had never used serfdom before, except once or twice as a spiritual civ for limited periods. But I found it far more useful than slavery in this game. That was especially cool.
