I am coming home from work earlier today to maybe work on some RB reports, since I am away soon for three months, or join a MP game. And the loading screen gives me the "insert correct disk..." error message! eek eek eek
Checking out the disk, reveals some noticable scratches (I use two machines to play, so I carry the disk aropund a lot)!
I have contacted 2K and asked for a replacement, but I have no idea if they even do that! huh huh huh
Plus any replacement will take DAYS to arrive! And I cannot write my reports for the Potluck Epic and Adv13!!! frown frown frown

Oh frown I feel with you. The reports are tough luck. Perhaps you can borrow a disc from a friend while waiting for the replacement?

I can't imagine that Take2 won't replace it, though they might want to recieve the damaged one in exchange.

Have you tried cleaning the disk to see if it might help or is it beyond mortal aid?

It's definitely worth trying it a couple of times though and (as Harlequin suggested) giving it a good clean. I've had a couple of occaisions when it's complained about not being able to read the disk, but both times I ejected it, re-settled it in thetray and the tried again to have it work huh so you never know.

I thought I had lost my Civ IV disk a while back. I mentioned it to my wife :eck: and ... she said that she would buy me a new one! She hates CIV IV with a passion ... but she knows that I like it and she loves heart me!
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Ooo bad thing. It's happened to me a couple times, then I've started making copy CDs. It has saved me sometimes, I strongly suggest that to all people who carry the CD around a lot, make a copy, put the original in the box and use the copy.

BTW, I -think- you can download and use Civ without breaking laws, if you own a (even damaged) copy of the product. Or, at least, this is how it works in my country.

It shouldn't take more than one day to download the game, if you have DSL of course.

Isnt it legal to use a crack if you bought the game? Im not sure of the exact details but its basically like a backup, which is supposed to be legal.
