Well, in light of a game with no completed reports, the question does beg asking. Pretty much all of our regulars seem to be spending their Civ time engrossed in the Apolyton Demogame, not leaving a lot left over for these games. (That's the case for me, anyway.) It also bears mentioning that Civ4 came out almost four years ago. In the world of gaming, that's ancient history.
We've had a great run over that span. Is it time to call it quits?

Possibly. When's civ 5 out? That'll be exciting!
I haven't played the last handful so it's not really for me to say, that's best left to people who played the recent ones.
But if we have had the last one, we can look back at some great games and some superb reports. I remember Kylearan's epic 3 report as a standout - slingshotting monarchy and building 15 warriors for hereditory rule, then merging a load of merchants into a size 40+ city. Then there's Sirian's adventure 3 report, where the big Chosen Unwisely was brought out on many an occasion. Then there were the domination victory reports of epic 4, the come-from behind victories/narrow losses of adventure 2, Sullla's adventure 11 saga, T-Hawk's epic 15 and many reports form uberfish and blake that were really fun to read. My personal favourite games to play were adventure 11, epic 10 and adventure 22.

I am not that concerned about more games showing up. I started the last game and didn't even make 50 turns after I realized I was rushing it and playing sloppy.
I have plenty to keep me busy if I get in a civ mood with all the 1/2 played epics on the hard drive.

I could probably go for a few more - that was the first one I had skipped in a while. Of course, I only started playing once BTS came out so I understand if the vets are reaching the end of their interest.

Hi,
to be fair, my opinion shouldn't really count as I haven't played an event for a long time now. But that wasn't because I'm burnt out, but because of lack of time. I *am* burnt out on "normal" games, but variant scenarios still appeal to me.
In an ideal world, the Epics and Adventures would continue for some while, to give me something to play in case I finally find some time for it again. But as I've had to give up playing so many times now already, this vote shouldn't weigh much.

Agreed with Kylearan.
It's nice to have the option to play an open game when we get the chance or the urge, but convenience isn't reason enough to put in the time and effort into organizing a scenario.

Yeah, it takes a lot of time/effort to set the scenarios up. If no one is going to play them its probably time to move on. I can say for myself I'll never play one again; T-Hawk's Mach Five couldn't have been better designed to pull in someone burnt out but I still couldn't muster the will.

I would be sad to see the games stop. Of course I haven't even been close to an active member of the community. I think it would be nice to still have games every so often though.
I don't expect to see Civ V come out anytime soon. I think they would announce it at least a year or so before releasing it.

I have only been involved here very recently and I would be sad to see the opportunity to play in these games gone, however, lets face it, Civ 4 has been out for quite a while now and a lot of good sceanarios have been used. I do struggle to find time to play often but, if a game were arranged for a specific timeframe, I could say if I could play and report or not.
Thanks to everyone who has put effort into this site ![bow bow](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/bow.gif) I have learnt more by reading your reports than I ever did playing the game!!
I'll continue to log on every now and then to see if another game crops up... I do have an idea but haven't found the time to see if it would actually work well or not... Maybe I'll do that next and then see if it can be hosted here.

Let's not overreact to a single event. It's happened before and we're still here. This event hit a perfect storm of competing factors: on the heels of a massive burnout-inducing event, the Apolyton game, a micromanagement-intensive goal, the practical need for a mod, and for me personally April is always peak season for real-life busyness.
I can't categorically say whether I'd play more events personally. The general consensus seems to be that we're weary of Civ 4, but the right scenario could still pull in a fair number of players.
So the trick is in designing a compelling scenario of manageable size and micromanagement. I'll have to see if my muse is still in business...
