Olodune has pointed out that we never made any official announcement here that the Apolyton Demogame had concluded. There's a (very lengthy) writeup on my website for those who may not have seen it posted a couple of weeks ago. So if you haven't seen this already, enjoy.

Thanks a lot for the writeup, Sullla. As one of the (few) people around here that wasn't participating in the game as it was going along, I've greatly enjoyed spending the last couple of hours reading your extensive and highly enjoyable writeup. It certainly looks like you all had a fun game there -- quite enough to make me regret not being part of it.
Thanks again for the read, and congratulations on the victory,
Garath

I second Garath. Although it is a shame that a lot of the potential with that game was wasted, both to the poor map design (did RB even visit the New World at ALL?), and how the different teams handled the game, especially the resignations that happened.

That write up was an excellent use of all of my discretionary time yesterday.
Two criticisms, intended to be constructive:
1) Including links to the opened forums. It was late enough that I may have missed these...
2) That color scheme doesn't work for me at all; I had to ask Firefox to disable your styles to get something that didn't hurt to look at.

I'd certainly have to agree with that ![bow bow](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/bow.gif) !
This sounds like it was a lot of fun despite all the drama and I was pretty disappointed when they (PAL) called it quits. I was really looking forward to the write up of what would have been a fantastic war but only to get to the end discovering they quit. I did try to read it all as well but I just had to skip most of those templar e-mails from Aiden, really annoying stuff there. I don't know how it took so long to decide to just destroy them. I lost my patients pretty quickly with them

Pure elf poetry.

My (charitable) take on this is that Aiden is stuck in the metagame. He doesn't want to talk about the game directly, because...it's not right. The first rule of Civ Demogames is you don't talk about Civ Demogames. The second rule of Civ Demogames is you talk about Civ MetaDemogames.
And scorned lover, indeed. Except it's the scorned guy in the back of the classroom who never even bothers to ask the girl out.

I've been reading some of the babelfish translations of the Imperio forums. Some of the transaltions are quite amusing ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) . Here are some quotes from when they discovered we settled Cape Town:

Excellent write-up Sulla, I spent one and a half hour with it. Impressive how Team RB managed that well with that lousy start. I think no team put as much work into the game as RB did, if one sees the C&D department alone. The only thing that really sucked was the total incompetence of the map designer. I still wonder why Imperio didn't simply crush you with their start. Well played from all of your team!

Great writeup.
It's quite amusing that Templars, who had a hard-on on *bad* roleplaying (seriously, even the most die-hard roleplayer should admit that he is playing a game first... something evident even in tabletop RPG), still managed to screw it up. Templars, AFAIK, isn't the correct plural for the "Templar". ![lol lol](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif) Yeah, minor fact, but it keeps me amused.
But seriously, the game was ridiculous. If it wasn't for many factors, I think you wouldn't have made it, although I admit that the boldness speaking from you is just amazing. I love reading how Sullla goes all "Fortune favors the bold" and suddenly everyone goes beyond the impossible, kicks reason to the curb... it's awe-inspiring.
Also, salut, General Sunrise. It's one of my favourite parts.
Here's what I imagine would happen if the "Templars" were competitive enough:
