Imagine you buy yourself a Ferrari. Upon the first ride, its exhaust falls of. Will you call the falling off a car "mechanics"? Or modify the Ferrari-without-an-exhaust into a Ferrari-with-one?
No, you will repair it. Insecticide repairs what should have worked since 1.2 version of Master of Magic. It refuses to cross over the line of official rules (although the game is definitely unbalanced as it is).
