Intersite Game - Turn Discussion Thread

Turn discussion thread. Please feel free to hold all discussion relating to whatever's going on at the moment in this thread. We'll create other threads for side projects (targeting wonder X, attacking target Y, etc.) and have separate threads for long-standing projects (diplomacy, cloak and dagger, etc.) Expect this to be a very long thread.

Suggestions for moving the warrior are welcome. I am thinking to move NW for the minimal extra tile it will reveal.

Our starting moves are essentially determined for the first 15 turns. We've agreed that settling 1N on the bananas is the best way to start. We can use these initial turns to scout the surrounding terrain and figure out whether to push for size 5 ASAP, or go the early settler route. Both are strong options. Both share the identical moves for the first 15 turns, so we don't have to decide now.

Opening build path: Worker (10t) -> Warrior until size 2
Opening tech path: Hunting (8t) -> Pottery (12t)

Here are the complete micro details for the first 15 turns: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19563179/ISDG/ISDG-micro.xls

Here's what it should look like on T15:

And aside from moving the warrior, that's everything we'll be doing for the first month. Enjoy. lol

Northeast. Because of the cow, that's the most likely direction at the moment for city #2. If there are other resources in range along with that cow, the early settler plan becomes more attractive.

And we'll get free visibility on that minimal extra NW tile when the capital pops borders.

We have 15 turns to scout with the warrior before we decide on the two possible development paths. Since we appear to have desert to our west, I think doing a limited 2NE with the warrior, before turning NW and then SW in a clockwise circuit. I think we will have enough time to check the first-ring sites with the warrior to our northwest, north, northeast and east that way.

If there is floodplans to our east, then I think we should consider switching to a counter-clockwise movement.

The cow is a very strong tile, but it doesn't give a huge food surplus. No need to commit to a city in that direction at once.

Another possibility, since the river is to our east, is to go 2N first and then do a clockwise loop, scouting around the cow, river, and finally FPs. Wait, is that what you meant, kjn (minus the starting off going 2N bit)?

Kjn, NW then SW sounds counter-clockwise to me, something doesn't make sense in your post.
I have to run.

Are we going to leave our capital unguarded for 12 turns? Fuzzy memory is that the average distance is 15 tiles...LP you did this analysis right?

I suggest warrior movement to be NE then E to get on that river side hill. Chances are good that our second city will be placed next to that river. It also feels more "natural" to explore along the riverbanks. Once we have the game we will also see which way the river goes. "To the beach!" wink
Also considering the tiles revealed by the capitals border pop, the clockwise scouting circle should have a bigger radius. Something like 5-6 tiles away from the city tile?

And do we have a name for the capital yet?

Famous starship names maybe:
"Heart of Gold" - nicely misleading
"Sleeper Service"
...

Yes, should have been 2NW, 2NE, E, SE in my post.

I proposed naming our capital Junta, to honor our banana city, and then continue with other classic board games.

I'd instead go NW-NE to start (same result as 2N but with an extra tile revealed and then do the clockwise loop).
