Superfluous thread to reach agreement about our diplo profile

Recent discussions in the diplo thread suggest that we don't agree completely on how we should conduct diplomacy. Specifically, you don't all agree with me. In order to remedy that problem, here's a thread for it!

I suggest voting among the two poll options listed, with a catch-all Other option.

GROWL (Gigantic Ranting Overloards Whipping Leeches)
This is the "all-out assholes having fun" option. We don't mind if it harms our chances of winning, we'll behave as we please and try to win in spite of it. We will negotiate when we feel like it, not necessarily when it's the smart thing to do. Chances are we will also be over-zealous about pursuing grudges, as opposed to merely being zealous. We are also highly likely to use predjudice to use predjudice to determine our stance with other teams.

POUT (Pragmatic Overachieving Ultimate Tossers)
This is the "assholes trying to behave like civilized people when it's in our best interests" option. There will still be a clear no-BS and somewhat hostile tone in our diplomacy, but it will be toned down some whenever it's not integral to the message we want to get across. Our diplo with specific teams will be guided primarily by the in-game situation and our own best interests, but prior knowledge of other teams will of course be taken into account.

If you think either of these options is not properly defined or you want a different option, speak now or be forever silent. Yes, forever.

Hmm - I don't think we all need to agree with the style of diplo we use and It will likely change over the course of the game. Personally I don't mind being as blunt as we have been to begin with as it is only to establish that we aren't interested in any fluffy silver tounged crap from the outset. I imagine if we work well with another team, the tone will change to cordial.

We could always give the standard WFYABTA response and ignore diplo.

But, for the purposes of the poll, let's remain open-minded. Of the two, POUT is better, although the first is certainly more fun to craft.

Square Leg, what you're suggesting is pretty much the second option. It's still blunt and no-BS, main difference is that we think about results primarily and adjust the tone as needed to make sure we achieve our objectives. Basically, it's the difference between whether we're in this mainly to screw around or trying to win first and foremost, with screwing around being a secondary objective. I'm fine with either really, depending on what people want.

Is it too early for me to reveal that my personal victory condition as assigned by the game organizer is to have our team DoW'ed by all the other teams in a B.C. mega-hate dogpile? Running a full out GROWL diplo game is quite essential to fulfilling my personal victory condition.
