Brief pre-game thoughts on how to start out:

Granaries pay off far better than usual, so we want them early. Since we will have granaries early, we also want slavery early. BW and Pottery will both be top priorities, hopefully we will have at least one grain resource that we can improve without extra techs. I am guessing we will want to go Mining => BW => Wheel => Pottery, that way our worker will have plenty to do and we get to granaries and whipping/chopping the fastest way possible. If we start out without a grain resource we may be in trouble as that will require us to delay BW and Pottery.

No mean mapmaker! This is why I wanted pre-knowledge of starting resources or a screenshot, little too much gambling for my taste. This is probably a bigger issue for anyone with a Hunting or Fishing civ, as there is a bigger risk of them being completely useless at the start. I won't try to unduly influence you, but as I said earlier I think it's preferrable that the gambling aspect is minimized.

MusicMan, how do you feel about early religions? I think it would be a waste of beakers to go for Hinduism or Buddhism before completing BW and Pottery, especially with early culture being less of an issue for us.

Thankee, which is why I shan't look in here any more to see any strategies, or say anything about the map.

i agree with the tech plan. as inca we get a semi-creative edge in that our granaries double as super-monuments. good thing we start with agriculture which means we can at least farm any open space if theres fuck all else haha

regarding religions, your free to look at my pbem33 thread. there ive managed to nick 4 religions just coz i could. we start with mysticism so we will need to check whether any of our enemies have started with the same.

btw i did look carefully at taking india but decided that it would need a quick chopped out stonehenge to match the incas terraces. ofc the advantage there would be bw could be from the off but theres no food tech so agriculture would replace mining in your plan if we'd gone with them.

on another note should we consider rushing anyone with the lone starting quechua? haha

What techs does Inca have?
EDIT ha crosspost! we probs don't need early religion so much as we've got culture, Rush likely impossible but we could try choke?

I usually build a number of warriors for early exploration and harrassment, I think that is a really good investment. Moreover, it's one of the only production items we can grow on until we get Pottery. We likely won't be able to rush with them, but fortifying them somewhere annoying or running around chasing workers and getting vision on enemy towns is well worth it.

As mentioned above, I think early religion would be a waste of beakers. I would prefer waiting until Code of Laws or Philosophy, unless we decide to make a play for Oracle (in which case we need Priesthood and can pick up Monotheism while we're at it).
