It was her will...
The lines echoed in his head, the last parting word of his ally Os-Gabella when she sent him into this land.
He still did not entirely believe it - Ceridwen would surely have addressed him directly, wouldn't she? He was after all, her chosen champion for the Armageddon.
[YOUR START:]
Yet one did not easily refuse Os-Gabella, and so here he was:

While surveying his new lands with barely disguised contempt, he sensed a cry through the ether.
It was a prophecy mane, a creature once man that had been so altered in The Hells as to adhere to the infernal purpose - this one sent as a harbinger of the apocalypse, to spread the Prophecy of its destruction.
But for now it is trapped - by some device of Junils no doubt - and would require a force to free it.
[YOU RECEIVE A WARRIOR WITH THE FOLLOWING PROMOTIONS: RACE:DEMON, CAGED, HEROIC DEFENCE 1+2, WEAK, PROPHECY MARK, MAGIC IMMUNE, VALOR, STONESKIN, DRILL 1 AND HELD.
THE HELD PROMOTION CAN BE REMOVED BY MOVING ANY UNIT ON THAT TILE AND CASTING RELEASE FROM CAGE]

Signing up to dedlurk Ryan.

Alright ... looks like first city can probably go 1 east, but man ... a severe lack of farms here eh?

I'd still probably go Worker first and beeline Calendar, but THIS time, its to get those silks up ^_^

That being said, farming the corn will still probably the best move for your first improvement.

After Calendar, probably Knowledge of the Ether ... and after that, likely Construction for farm spread. You will probably benefit from switcing to Godking at mysticism, and beelining an Elder Council + running a sage ... at least until Academy or Knowledge of the Ether, whichever comes first.

By the by, you're corn is irrigated by a lake tile.

due to these 'peculiar' circumstances, I would advise waiting until Myst to switch to both Godking and Agrarianism.

Hey Q ... I think I will end up helping Ryan out with the turn share, at least early on ... so I think it would be best if both of our e-mails were placed on the tracker. We can still use his turnslot though, whenever that is, and I'll try to work around that when I have to sub for him ^_^

I don't know how to make a tracker, and have no intention of making one.
Just get him to sue a gmail you both have access to.

who is making the tracker?

hmm. I guess, if there is no tracker, we can just come up with a new co-email yea ... makes it easier for others.

Ugh, a ruin right next to your capital. Do you have any plans to deal with that? Pop it, place a unit on it so no lizardmen can spawn, something else?
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

I guess we will need to just place a warrior there (until we have 2-3 cities and about 4-5 units in the local area (more if you consider garrisons))
