This thread is to report on the progress of THH's civilization (Victoria of Korea) through the game, and to conduct planning related to micro and military operations.

We didn't discuss where to move our scouts, but I thought moving to the hill overlooking the river valley and toward HAK was a reasonable first move. I propose moving to the forested grassland hill 2E next turn.

As we had planned, I settled in situ and started on a worker. Evidently we still have seven to eight turns to finalize our micro plan.

Whoever guesses my naming scheme first without recourse to the internet will receive a field promotion. In some circles we'd call that a hint, but here we call it intelligence.

Also, this colour for my civ, though I didn't request it, is perfect.

Gah, sometimes my machine refuses to take good screenshots, and I don't know till after I've exited:

1E, 1NE to the second forested grassland hill is pretty obvious.

Where to next? There's no obvious double-move to a hill. By the way, in case you were wondering, that water is a freshwater lake.

Eot borders popped:

If you could head NE and uncover the area west of my Pigs, that might be helpful. I was planning on keeping my scout to head northwards. We could for now use your scout for exploring the lands around our cities, while mine goes the distance to find our neighbors.
Also pretty sweet that our capitals are connected by that river. Means the moment we research Sailing, we'll get trade routes between our cities without the need of any roads.

I forgot to grab eot demos. Could you make sure to get them when you play, HAK?

So sailing is good for the trade connection, and also for Bismark's lighthouse-lake tiles and TGLighthouse (not that great in an AW, but we have got two civs to trade between).

I'll try to do some work on the C&D tomorrow.

Note: Inter-team trade routes count as domestic.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

HAK, since you're playing second, could you grab the eot demos again?

Moved 1N. Not much revealed so I didn't take a screenshot.
