Well, I'm happy that I didn't get the worst choice. I know that Rowain got his least favorite choice as Austria is his least favorite Civ. This is very ironic because Rowain's Austrian. Austria has the second worst record after Italy. Sullla said that they have the most solo wins. This might be true depending on the source but outright wins are uncommon in this game--so Austria is still the second-worst civ.

I see three plans.

1. The lepento opening.
2. I attack Rowain.
3. I focus on not dying by attacking france, cyneheard.

I'm willing to NAP-stab to but I have to very strong reason to do so. Bob said someonewhere that 1/15 games have a NAP-stab so that's how bad they are. That said diplomacy is not the same as civ.

Got it. There are two common plans for Italy:

2. Do a Lepanto opening

So not suggesting a Lepanto opening would put us at a cold war. You don't want that as you got your least favorite Nation you Austrian. Should we do a Lepanto opening?

Lepento opening is when Italy and Austria team up to take out Turkey. Italy's other plan is to attack Austria and pray. The only other move is to attack France but that's dubious. This is because Italy has a hard time holding France's supply centers because of the map design. It might be a good plan if you want to avoid dying (rowain did this in his first game here) though but I want to take out cities!

This is my first game ever of diplomacy. I'm just going off things I've read.

Of course we should.

We should have peacefull border for a long time if we don't want to see another scooter win.

Okay. So how much trust are you willing to give me? The most aggressive plan involves Austria allowing an army to get killed by Italy so they can build other fleet. I think you are not willing to go that far. So you have to balance how much you are willing to trust me against how much you are willing to take down Scooter/Gaspar. You should keep in mind that NAPs are loved on this site so I would be very reluctant to backstab.

NAP is built into the move orders in which we take out Scooter. That would take at least five turns which is a long time.
