And no one notices or cares.
Edit: For those viewing this later, the lack of images is because dropbox changed their functionality. This is a common problem across the fora.

This is not going to be the most updated thread, as people who have (tried to) follow PBEM57 may be aware. I will try to get a good report out at least once a week, and try for more.
As posted in the main thread I am going to need a sub from the 16th of April, so if anyone is willing to cover that period then let me know.
So I have been rolled Ragnar (Agg/Fin) of France. While I'm glad for the Agg, which I think is a fun trait in RBmod, and one that I'm looking forward to trying out, Fin feels very so-so in RBmod, and overall I dislike not having a single expansionist trait. France is a very good civ, but nothing kicks in until the Renaissance - starting techs are balanced enough, that without knowing the map they don't matter a huge deal, AGR/WHE are always good, but I don't mind enough what I get. So, on balance, I think I will reroll this combo.

So you are rerolling Ragnar? And France?

I have to reroll both, don't I?
And the answer was no, I'm not sure (which is why I didn't pm Commodore until just now), I wanted the day to think about it more. I did in the end go for a reroll - although if I can just reroll the Ragnar half then I'd definitely go for that.

My incredulity knows no bounds.

Firstly, this is all a matter of opinion as to what civs people want to play. I personally don't enjoy FIN as a trait, whether RBmod or not. I also doubt that France will ever be relevant due to how late the bonus cuts in, and this is a game in which the early bonus is going to matter a lot, and this mod makes techs equal enough that I didn't care overly what I got, so I had no issues rerolling France. I enjoyed AGG, but it didn't come back so thems the breaks. The lurkers might disagree, but this is an opinion on what I enjoy, and I am happy with what came out of it.
Secondly, this map is tight. I have met Caledorn this turn, and he is a maximum of 15E and 12S tiles, but likely significantly less, and I know that a red civ (Japan or Russia spring to mind, which are Wetbandit and Yuri respectively, but I'm waiting on the fix before being certain. I *think* its Yuri) is just a short hop to the north - maybe 8 tiles - although that is across a ditch of water.
I popped a hut with my scout, which popped another scout The original is continuing south, hopefully to find Caledorn's borders while the new one is looping round to pop another hut on my borders, which someone else could probably claim, but eh well.
I founded my city next to a pig, a clam and a forested hill, so I am researching hunting and building a workboat using the hill. I will post pictures when it finishes, but in the mean time you can check the lurker thread.

Actually that was Wetbandits inner borders, which popped this turn and met me. I have left EPs on Caledorn for now, as we have a land border. WB is 6N 2E of us. Found Caledorns borders, which seem to be inner ring so he probably settled after a turn of movement. I will likely see inside his capital next turn.
I misremembered my start which has a grass sheep and plains cow. The hut will be popped in two turns time. The speed of this game is a little ridiculous for the player numbers.
And that was night, and morning, on the fifth turn.
