Since, with 33 players, no one else will get a chance to lurk it.
yes, dear reader, you will get to see AT question his own moves, argue with himself on strategy, and beat on himself for allowing his capital to be razed - in other words, behave as normal.
however, if you are actually a player in this game (and face it, there's a good chance you are), you should leave immediately!!!

ok - so, I'm peter of Rome. About the only thing that RBMod doesn't change from BtS are the starting techs of Fishing/Mining, which are decent, not great.
Each trait, the UU and the UB are changed - heck, even the unit that the UU is based off is changed. So, let's walk through what's different:
Traits:
Philosophical - 150% GP production, up from 100%. This means that if I run 2 scientists, I get 15 GPP, not 12 (as in the base) or 6 (for a non-philo civ). It's a pretty big advantage, as long as I have even numbers of GPP. While a regular civ takes 17 turns to get a GS from 2 scientists, I get one in 7 turns. The doubled university hasn't changed - on what looks to be a huge map, that's a lot of hammers saved for Oxford.
Expansive - 35% bonus on workers, instead of 25%, and 35% bonus on wb. At first, I thought "yawn"... then I realized that it means that I get the bonus with a plain forest, which is pretty awesome. And, of course, on wb, which is nice.
Losing the bonus on granaries is sucky, and getting it back on markets and grocers doesn't really make up for it... but wait! the UB is a market replacement!!
The Forum gives a 35% bonus to GPP, not 25%, so that's a nice 1 gpp per 2 specialists.
And the UU - preat is 7, not 8, but iwth normal costs and gets the city attack bonus for swords.. which is now 50%!! which, basically, offsets the 50% bonus to axes. So, praets are pretty good, at least attacking a city.
And that's it - I'm sure as hell not going to bother handicapping the field (krill will win, except I doubt this makes it 100 turns before it dies from people dropping out).
It should be fun. My basic plan is to go kill early and use GP to get ahead in tech.

In an attempt to get back on page #1 for a little while, I am going to speculate as to how to actually win this thing.
I'm not sure it can be won by conquest or domination - too big, too many players. Obviously, religion is out, as is diplomacy. Most likely, it will be concession, space or culture - I'm assuming concession.
Culture is an interesting idea - you would have to conquer a lot of land, but if you kill, say, 4 or 5 opponents, have 40 or 50 cities, could you win via culture? Probably - and peter of Rome is a good person to do it.
I'll have to explore this as an idea. This is a crazy scenario, might as well try a crazy strategy.

i'd love to see a solo culture win, but i think you've got the right idea in expanding first. good luck amd guard your cap!

thx!!
I think it's funny that so many people are switching - changing civs is entirely dependent on how many other people switch. I guess most people are looking for a different leader, but I think it's a fools game to figure out what a dominant leader is in this game. it's vastly more likely to be determined by A) your start and B) your neighbors. well, and your ability, of course.

Wow, 285% gpp after building a half-priced building that enables merchant specialists is pretty crazy!

Yeah, pretty crazy. Rome gets a small, but not insignificant advantage in GPP production over other philo civs. And Philo gets a big bump, just by itself.

so, some "analysis" of teams:
There are 34 teams, thus 68 traits.
This is the breakdown:
8 industrious civs - yikes. Only 5 philo.
There are 2 restricted leaders (Plako, with Louis of France, and pindicator, with Qin of China), though with RBMod, it's not really restricted.
some pregame guesses:
# civs I meet before 1000 BC - 7
# civs I meet before 1 AD - 14
# civs destroyed before I can meet them - 5
# civs (living) I have not met by the time the game is conceded - 4.

We are off! I had the correct techs and units, so took a look around and saw:
Well, that's after moving my scout. I figured SIP made sense - 2 hammer tile and forest pigs means I get bonuses right off for workers and WB.
Named my capitol Strep (gonna be the diseased empire) and, temporarily, set my build to a WB.
I think I want to go worker first - the pigs is a great tile. It takes 11 turns to research hunting and just 9 to build a worker, so he'll have a turn to look for truffles with the pigs (I really want to get the truffles event on the pigs tile - that would be excellent)
Then WB. Need to know where copper and horse are - with this amount of food, we want to be able to whip soon, too.
But I'll sandbox and ensure that worker first is best.
The current mighty empire!!
